About this listen

The Burden of Proof: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

Turow's acclaimed second novel, which topped international best seller lists, is now available in audio. Sandy Stern, the brilliant defense attorney from Presumed Innocent, faces an event so emotionally shattering that no part of his life is left untouched. It reveals a family caught in a maelstrom of hidden crimes, shocking secrets, and warring passions.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

For a legal thriller I would have preferred more legal scenes and nuances than this book had. Also the books starts very slowly, so much so that I almost gave up on it 1-1/2 - 2 hours into it. Another complaint about the book would be that there is copious amounts of sexual scenes especially in the first half. It doesn’t offend me, and any book like this will have some of that, however this book simply had too much for my taste. As far as the music goes (bookrack edition) it didn’t bother me like it did some other reviewers, however it didn't add anything to the listening experience. When I first saw what bookrack was, I mistakenly thought there would be background noise of all kinds, for example if they were in the office then you would hear subtle office type noises, to enhance the feel of the narration. In the past I have heard audio books that do exactly that and I enjoyed those books very much.

More legal scenes and less sex would be better

I enjoyed the story, although it was a little slow at points. the performance was a bit unenthusiastic and I could have done without the overdone constant background music.

good story, adequate performance

The Burden of Proof is another great book by Scott and his ability to create the scenes and tie the characters together in a meaningful way. It’s so enjoyable to read his works for great entertainment.

Another great story

Story and characters - especially “Sandy” are everyday heroes who come to brilliant life and are loved and familiar as any family.

Extraordinary

I love Scott Turow’s books and have heard or read all of them I think. This book was a great story, the narrator was fabulous. But oh my goodness, the music in the background made me crazy!!! I like to hear the book only, don’t care for music all the way through. If I want music I’ll play a CD. Didn’t like that aspect of it at all.

What’s with the music????

I am enjoying the story very much. However, the constant music being played in the background is very distracting. While I have heard other music in other books, it has been less and just a few places. This book has too much. And, when did Audible decide to add a short ad at the beginning of the book/books? Using Audible is the perfect way to enjoy a book and should not include an advertisement nor so much music that is just like static on a radio. Please review these objections and see if there is a way to change recording so that there is only limited or no music and no advertisements. We are not watching a movie so the music is not an added enjoyment and I listen to a lot of books. Thank you for your consideration of my complaints.

Music and Advertisement for ear phones

I love this author and so kept waiting for the book to turn into.... something! The plot was pitiful, no real story to speak of. It could have been done in 2 hours. Don’t waste your time!

Wasted 20 hours of my life!
