Publisher's summary

As marine veteran Jake Hathaway struggles to clasp his final strands of humanity, his former police partners: Kelvin “Mack” McElroy, a Belgian Malinois K9 named Roscoe, and a petite tattooed blond named Megan Anderson team up with a tall, voluptuous redheaded federal agent named Noreen and a metal core cover band named Four Finger Bitch Slap. Their mission: not only to destroy the creatures, but also to put a plan in place for stopping those persistent in keeping the pandemic percolating.

Will Jake and his superhuman abilities be of any assistance in this cause? Or, is he too far along in the morphosis to be anything other than a hindrance?

Kick Ass Fun Play With My Emotions Twisty Horror

The best horror writers know that readers (and listeners) want tense action, scary jump moments and heart pounding anticipation in their stories. But the ones that add human emotion and make you care about the heroes are the ones who are successful. In the third book of the Wicked Awake series Liquor When She's Dead (Best Title Ever!) by my absolute new favorite go to horror author Merrill David we see exactly how to write the perfectly entertaining zombie apocalypse novel.

In the first two books we come to feel connected to our heroes Jake, Mack, Megan and best friend Belgian Malinois K9 Roscoe. ( SPOILER) Then the writer screws with our heads and Jake is infected...but wait...instead of becoming a flesh eating zombie he has super strength but a "I will kill you writer cliffhanger" finds us assuming Jake is dead.

Now in Book 3 Mack is dealing with so much loss as he is assigned a new partner the gorgeous tough redheaded Federal Agent Noreen. They soon realize some don't want the zombie pandemic to end because they have gained enormous power and wealth. Then they get the call...Jake's tracker has gone off!

Another standing ovation for narrator C.J.Grey who can deliver a comedic line like no other. His heightened anxiety voice is so authentic I wanted to call 911 to help him. Also, I have to mention the metal cover band, "Four Finger Bitch Slap!" Except for their female singer and her Grandfather what idiots! Who goes on tour while zombie hoards are eating people! When they steal a little house I stopped everything and just stared at the phone👀.

Seriously, this series is the most fun, twisty, shocking, pure entertainment you will find in horror today. Book 4 is coming in October and I my only note to this phenomenal author is nothing bad can ever happen to Roscoe or I will start my own apocalypse!

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

third times a charm

So I just finished the 3rd book in a row one after a other & this volume was as good as the rest, the story was a bit different because of the addition of some folks & lack of others but equally as gruesome and fun as the last, thoroughly enjoyed it

Weird story

If you can get beyond the teenage type sex comments and innuendos, it’s a tale of some super still human zombies and powers that be trying to ruin the world.

Enjoyable ride

Keeping this very vague (because you must listen to this story unfold yourself, through the again fabulous narration by CJ Grey):
In book 3 we get a lot more of the pieces of the puzzle, which is Jake’s life. We learn about occurrences in his life growing up, and how they are linked to current events.
New characters are introduced; the band members and a Tiger Mart owner, who travel together trying to survive this zombie pandemic. Hannah and Denise learn of the shady dealings of the government and are sent off on a mission. Mack, Megan and his new partner Noreen face many “close calls”. We unfortunately say goodbye to a character that I found quite intriguing.
There is also a bonus encounter with another animal zombie. All I will say is “Wow!”
There is so much more going on in this book that I cannot begin to cover it all. Tons of action, emotions, information and humor. Definitely worth checking it out!
