About this listen

(Formerly called "Flame of Holy Fire", from the book Significant Circumstances)

Oriel is the Holy Fire of the Most High, sent to Earth in the final days to fight with the other angelic agents. When the plans of the saints go horribly awry and a love from his past comes back to haunt him, will he be able to finish his mission? And who is the woman that looks so much like the one he used to know? (This is a companion story to "The Angel & Her Gun" as well as "The Demon & His Lover".)

This is a short story, approximately 7900 words.

Would you listen to Lost Flame again? Why?

Maybe once I've read/listened to the others in the series

Would you consider the audio edition of Lost Flame to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed listening to the audio edition of Lost Flame, and might not have experienced the full story if I had needed to devote myself to reading it.

What other book might you compare Lost Flame to and why?

I'm not a big fan of supernatural "angely/demony" books, but I didn't mind listening to this one while doing other things in my shop. I guess I would compare it to some sort of Buffy fanfic?

What does Amber Neko Meador bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ms. Meador did a good job of bringing the characters to life through her reading. It was clear and articulate, while holding my attention to a story I otherwise might not have read.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Extreme? Not quite. Considering my disinterest in the content, I would say it was an accomplishment that it held my attention for the duration of the story.

Any additional comments?

This was my first audible book listening/review! Yay!

Not Bad

What did you love best about Lost Flame?

I really liked the dystopian future setting for the story, it got you right into the action, the narration was really well paced and I loved how the characters were voiced.

What other book might you compare Lost Flame to and why?

Possibly Good Omens?

Have you listened to any of Amber Neko Meador’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and this was a different genre than I've heard before, but it wasn't a repeat of past performances. Really liked her ability to switch it up for this story.

A neat twist on the themes of angels and God

Dynamic, Decisive and well acted.

Yeah i would give it a go. Seem like it could be pretty good if done visually.

Not What I thought
