Publisher's summary

Like every girl, Sarah Jakes dreamed of a life full of love, laughter, and happy endings. But her dreams changed dramatically when she became pregnant at age 13, a reality only compounded by the fact that her father, Bishop T.D. Jakes, was one of the most influential megachurch pastors in the nation. As a teen mom and a high-profile preacher's kid, her road was lonely. She was shunned at school, gossiped about at church. And a few years later, when a fairy-tale marriage ended in a spiral of hurt and rejection, she could have let her pain dictate her future. Instead, she found herself surrounded by a God she'd given up on, crashing headlong with Him into a destiny she'd never dreamed of.

Sarah's captivating story, unflinchingly honest and deeply vulnerable, is a vivid reminder that God can turn even the deepest pain into His perfection. More than a memoir, Lost and Found offers hope and encouragement. Perhaps you, like Sarah, find yourself wandering the detours of life. Regardless of how lost you feel, you, too, can be found.

awesome read

Sarah Jakes story is inspiring and beautifully shared in this book. I honestly didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. I wish more women could find the strength to use their trials the way Sarah has...to become stronger and build a brighter and better tomorrow.

Holes in the story

The first child's father was given a pass. What's his story?
Keep up the good work. You Rock Sarah! Peace

Beautifully constructed

Words cannot express how fest of a read this was. Though it was her story, the lessons behind each trial were not missed or overshadowed. In fact, I think many women can relate to some of the scenarios Sarah mentioned. Knowing her story makes me even more appreciative of her ministry at The Potter’s House-Denver.

I wasn't sure at first

What made the experience of listening to Lost and Found the most enjoyable?

I selected the book, based off of the title. The first few chapters were slow for me, and I thought about returning the book. However, as I listened more (audio version), to Sarah's story there was SO much that I could relate to. By the time I reached chapter 5/6, I was hooked. I craved to listen to more. Thanks Sarah for sharing your story. I found grace the hard way too, but not because I wasn't aware of it, but because I kept pushing it away. Yet God loved me so he continued to keep me covered. I'm sure the Glorious ruin story is familiar to so many women.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lost and Found?

Finding yourself (destiny), being free and at peace.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Sarah spoke of her peace of being in her OWN home that she purchased, and beginning to find her Destiny. AND no longer holding onto the familiar, even if it meant more pain.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When you're so broken, you become numb, that you know longer feel the pain you just live it.

Any additional comments?

Reading more of Sarah books, and love the new life that Sarah has with her new husband Pastor Torre Roberts; whom I also listen to.

Eye opening

A real down to earth heartfelt story that I and I’m sure so many others can relate to. Growing up in the church, so many things she said about appearing to be perfect and having it all together hit home for me. Thank you Sarah, for your honesty and revealing a part of your life to us. It is truly an inspiration for me to trust God with it all!! May God continue to bless you and you continue to bless others!

I wasn't expecting to cry

When Sarah read her story of the moments/days after telling her parents of her pregnancy, reluctant tears weld up in my eyes. I don't cry easily, but I connected with her story. I was pregnant with my son at 14 and hearing Sarah recall her family's response and her own emotions just made me so grateful to God. "Some people learn worship by watching others. Others learn it by experiencing a struggle so great they have no other way to release their relentless shame, the terrifying shame, or unbearable pain". I learned worship the same way! What a beautiful story of being Lost and Found.
