Story
In a gay nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016, the shooter, Omar Mateen, murdered 49 people and wounded 53 others. The attack was the deadliest act of violence against the LGBTQ+ community in US history and the deadliest terrorist attack in the United States since 9/11. But there’s a story you haven’t heard. The FBI had a secret history with the shooter and his father. To obscure that history, the FBI pushed a false story that the media dutifully carried—that the attacker was a secretly gay Islamist extremist who had chosen to target Pulse and planned the attack for weeks.

Story
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Monster stories aren’t just meant to entertain. They’re meant to inform, even educate. Above all, they ask us to question our own humanity. Nowhere is this truer than in stories of serial killers. What are the origins of this monstrous archetype? Why are we so fascinated with such gruesome terror? What do they reveal about our fears and anxieties? Explore these and other questions in Serial Killers: Real and Imagined, where public scholar Emily Zarka looks at the serial-killer trope across history, from murky 17th-century legends to 21st-century true-crime obsessions.

Story
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

A masterfully written and captivating way of story telling.
James House has written about his life and music career by blending his story right into many captivating songs throughout this book. He has beautiful artistry and heart with his writing. In the best way, it left me wanting more. Luckily, I can listen to it again and again. (I hope the songs in this book become an album too) 🎼 ☮️ 🎼

The real deal
"Lost In Laurel Canyon" is a masterclass on making a life in music. James House's path through the music biz is one that most of us can only dream about. Hits, chances, big names, opportunity taken, opportunity blown. It's all here. The road hasn't been all glory. But "Lost In Laurel Canyon" is the story of getting knocked down (or knocking himself down) and then recovering, time and again. And doing it all with songs. Listen to this story. Listen to these songs. You'll be better for it.

Absolutely captivating! Loved the music.
James House’s narration of ‘Lost in Laurel Canyon’ is pure magic. His smooth, sultry voice draws you in and refuses to let go. But what truly sets his audiobook apart is the masterful way House weaves his own songs into the narrative, elevating the storytelling to new heights, his soulful melodies and poignant lyrics, perfectly complement the text, creating a truly immersive experience. House’s voice is undeniably, sexy, making the listening experience, feel intimate and personal. I found myself craving more, hanging on every word and note. If you’re a fan of music infused storytelling, do yourself a favor and dive into ‘Lost in Laurel Canon’. You won’t regret it!

A Magical Listening Experience
Welcome to James House's world... Don't know him? Well then you most definitely should, as to know him is to love him & his music. Each beautifully, emotionally spoken chapter is equally open & raw, then capped off by a heartfelt song written especially for that moment. Captivating stories of chasing dreams, facing demons, success & failure. The music needs to be a soundtrack all on its own. Kudos!

OMG! What a great book. Interesting & Enlightening
OMG! Just finished your Audible book!! Absolutely amazing!!! Listening to the songs along with your stories around them was incredible! I have been a fan since the early 90s. I have all your albums and have seen you perform live several times. You are so talented, and your voice is so special. Continue writing and performing, it's definitely your calling.
To anyone looking for a great book to listen to this is the one! It's not a lengthy listen. It includes some of the songs written by the Author and his background on the song and his performance. There are great stories included. I am so hoping James will do another one!

New James House album.
I have been a James House fan for many years.. Love the way he tells his story. The highs, the lows, the good , the bad. The music is honest . Get it, you won't be sorry.
