Think it is important to understand and support families as they look to understand the past.

This is such an important story of human life. The ties, connection and love of family and community. Thank you for this story and bringing awareness to mental health and the stigma still attached to it.

Kindness

Highly creative and well produced documentation of a family wanting to find peace. Who needs fiction when the truth is so filled with twists and turns and discoveries about human life with paradoxical pints of views and needs which gives us a real glimpse into a foreign world so intimately that I know my own self better.

Enjoyed it from beginning to end

This suggestion came up on the plus catalog. I decided to give it a chance. I found the story very entertaining but also an informative history lesson and about the past and present being connected and important.

Pleasantly surprised

Love the narrarator’s voice and the story is so captivating. It really makes you think about how much we know about of own history

Such an interesting story

I found this book and topic very interesting and rather sad. It’s crazy how we go from being able to put anyone in those homes to now we can’t find one for people who really need it. This was a very sad story but one that needed to be told and heard!

Very interesting

no sure I enjoyed most about is made me sad really that up to 1 man to determine the decision of others

how easy people use the excuses they want to protect the patient but then records or grave sights have no protection

I thought I was listening to a story of fiction. Even though I'm from the States, those atrocities are not just an "Isle" problem but ring true world wide.

The story grabbed my attention and held it until the last sentence. It was well written. Researched as thorough as was allowed.

Let's hope that many lessons that were learned will be taken more than at face value & that the necessary changes in the mental health industry will be made & that future institutions will be less revenue driven.

This is definitely a must listen (read) book.

Still so many things swept under the rug.

This story is so close to home to me for so many reasons! I’ve been a Psych nurse for more years than I can even count anymore, AND this same story has happened to my family in the way of the lost grave of my Great-Grandmother at an “insane Asylum” here in the US, where I’m sure she was suffering from Post Partum Depression, as she had just given birth before being admitted there. The family never talked about her and all of my dads family is gone now, but while searching for ancestry clues during genealogy studies, her plight and missing records, along with, after visiting the “hospital which is now a tourist/Halloween attraction :( in search of the grave yard, a missing grave, and cemetery all together due to “flooding” , I have found myself at a dead end. Your search and never-give-up attitudes gives me hope! I can’t ever explain to people WHY this is important to me, and I’m sure they think I’m nuts for caring, but YOU gave me a sense that there are others out there that CARE TOO!! Thanks for this project and for sharing! ~From North Central West Virginia, USA for Ms Hannah Hawkinberry
