Thorough coverage of a difficult subject

The narrator was so open and honest. I enjoyed hearing the commitment that the characters had to finding answers that were decades old.

Loved this investigative piece!

Grateful for the time these people have invested to bring these stories to light. Things don’t improve if we keep them hidden. Truth and transparency are not without pain but they are necessary to move forward in a positive direction

Very Interesting

It is good for us to understannd the institutional system and it is also good to return to them their names and dignity.

Fantastic story, heartbreaking

My eyes were opened to the inhumanity survived in early Ireland. This is a story that needed to be told. Thank you. Niall.

Fascinating and Tragic

I loved that some level of dignity and respect was able to be restored to those mistreated and misunderstood.

Intriguing Documentary

I honestly thought this would be a fiction based based on true events, but ended up being a wonderful and intriguing documentary about mental health institutions in Ireland’s past. A heartfelt and heartbreaking story that includes lost families reunited, archaeology, injustices, and families working hard to uncover the truth I’m so glad I listened and truly hope more information and evidence comes to light. The people from the institutions aren’t just “dead“ but those who suffered in various ways and were misjudged and mislabeled, which goes beyond mere need for health privacy. Further respect and honor are needed for these individuals and families and I totally support this work and effort.

Touching, telling and sadly true

Truth really can be stranger than fiction. What happened to people and particularly women and children 150 years ago is shocking enough. Bureaucrats’ treatment today of the families trying to honor their ancestors and heal from knowledge of the injustice they endured is beyond belief. Many of us have genealogical mysteries we wish we could solve but can’t because records don’t survive. Few have officials censoring historical information and dismantling cemeteries as obstacles to accessing biographical details and paying respects to their forbears. Unimaginable! This was well written and put together having riveting elements of true crime, insights into Irish culture, with a dash of dark history and conspiracy and protagonists I can get behind.
