About this listen

I used to think vampires were the stuff of fiction. Now my brother has a baby with fangs and there's bottles of blood in our fridge, so obviously, I was wrong about that. It's not the only thing I was wrong about, either. I'm a nerd, I'm supposed to be smart, but honestly? I'm starting to realize I can be pretty darn clueless.

For one, I never realized that my best friend was in love with me. Not until after he died in a vampire attack. To protect me.

His death shattered my whole world. Seeing him again is like a miracle.

Even if he has fangs now.

Even if he doesn't remember his own past - or me.

His new name is Crimson, and he's not who he used to be. I know that, really, I do. But I have to believe that I can remind him of all the memories we shared, all the years we spent together, geeking out over our favorite games and TV-shows.

Because when he kisses me, I feel whole again.

I don't get it. I've been straight my entire life.

But maybe that's just one more thing I was wrong about?

fantastic!

It's review time 🎧

Narrator score🎧 ; first and foremost I need to say that I just adore the serious the way that Jon solo can read things that should be hilarious and the way he reads those things even more funny. He is one of the best narrator's for sure. I adore his ability to take the pain of each character and multiple it. He is just the best.

"What do you want with a fang?" I mused. "You can't even have solid foods yet."

Level of steam🔥: it's a slow burn. It takes time for them to get to the point of steam. And I absolutely love it.

"He'd wanted Luke too much. His sweet smile, his wit, his air of innocence..."

Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: I don't want to write spoilers, but what I can say that it's an incredible story you do have your melancholic moments out there.

"Damian had been terrified that Luke might discover his secret. He'd never have thought that Luke would handle it like... this. That they could ever be together this way."

The book itself📖: ok. Let's start with the usual warnings. It's an mpreg vampire shifter fantasy series. ( males that can get pregnant) it's the second book in the series.
This book was absolutely great. I loved every single character, even the crazy one. And he was really f*** crazy.
The world that the authors created was believable and I think it's the most important thing in a fantasy world.
You understand the intricacies of the situation. The book was absolutely lovely. Best friends to lovers in a great story that feels so real. I loved it. Can't wait for the 3rd book and to a lot more of these.

I wondered if there were any vampires in space. There wouldn't be, would there? Whose blood would they drink?

“Same old ship, with a few new pieces.”

I enjoyed the world the author created. There's an interesting plot and well-developed characters. I will admit I wasn’t sure about Luke at first, but he grew on me. Crimson was definitely my favorite character. I loved watching Luke and Crimson slowly grow and come together.

I didn’t read the first book and didn’t feel like I missed anything.

John Solo did a great job. Each character had their own voice and I could feel the emotions. Mr. Solo really knows how to bring life to characters and preforms them flawlessly.

Takes a loss to make him burn!

The second book is just as good as the first! I felt so bad for Luke that he didn't realize he loved his BFF until it was to late....or was it?
John Solo is amazing and the feels oh boy!

Loved it!

I absolutely enjoyed this audiobook and am loving this series so far. This is book two in the Thicker than Water series, we get introduced to a few more characters, and doesn’t end on a cliffhanger- at least not before the bonus character. While this one has no male pregnancy, we do get some adorable baby time. Furthermore, we get lots of feelings, action and some questions for which we’ll have to wait a bit to get answered.
John Solo did an amazing job narrating. Characters are easily recognizable through their voice, and he portrayed their feelings nicely. I haven’t listened to a John Solo narration in a while and had forgotten how good he is.
Can’t wait to dive in to book/audiobook three of this series!

Love this so much!!

This is so far my favorite of this series. I love Luke and Crimson so much! Just knowing that they were friends before and seeing how even though Crimson doesn't remember Luke he still wanted to protect him. I just couldn't stop listening to this story. John Solo does such an amazing job with this narration. He brings all the emotions and just brings so much life into this story. I absolutely loving this series and I can't wait for the next one!

Love Bleeds

This is a great continuation of this series. In this second book we get the story of Luke and Crimson. Luke is young and has always held back but when his best friend is taken from him Luke’s world turns upside down. When Luke finds Crimson, he is not ready to give up. Even if Crimson does not remember his past Luke will not give up on the vampire. Crimson has good in him and he knows that there is something between him and Luke and he fights to figure it out.

I loved seeing these two find their way. Their emotions are strong, and it hits you in the heart. Both Crimson and Luke must figure out where they want their new relationship to go, even as they fight the evil that threatens Luke and his family. Time is not on their side as they try to get their own happy ever after. I am enjoying the world that this author has created. It has a strong plot with characters full of depth. Each story is fresh and moves the plot along. This book introduces some new characters and has a few twists that leave you wanting more and eager to return to this world. Narrator John Solo does a wonderful job of giving the characters in this world life. I was quickly pulled in and lost in the story feeling every emotion that the characters felt.

A love that is meant to be.

To start off I love this series by Anne- Katrin Byrde.

Yeah

Luke is a nerd, a computer science major a geek who thought himself straight; he lost his best friend Damian when the vampires attacked their home forcing him and his family into a safe house of a group of witches called WAFFER.
Thinking him dead Luke try to continue his life, still grieving and missing his friend.

Damien harbored deep feelings for Luke and never once reveal to him how he felt. Now he's a vampire anf goes by the name Crimson with no memories of his life before becoming one, but yet still, somehow something seem/feel familiar to him like the broken lego craft on the grounds of the house he was ordered to watch for any comings and goings.

As the story unfolds we see these two characters come together to fight for the bond that hold them.

To find out more I recommend reading this book.

Thank you Ann-Katrin Byrde, looking forward to the next installment in the series.
Thank you John Solo, you brought these character to life..excellent work.

Loved

Wasn’t crazy about the first book, as the MC was SUPER annoying and way to queenie, this one was IMMEASURABLY better, Luke comes off as being SUPER young and brash with no thought for consequences....but the love story between him an crimson was awesome!!!

Friends-to-lovers

While the first book, Love Bites, has mpreg, this story only mentions it without there being a pregnancy.

This story had a little bit of everything but the main romance involves two men that were friends before one was turned in to a vampire. Luke was pretty clueless about how Damien felt about him when he was alive. After the heart-wrenching pain of thinking Damien was killed by vampires, he discovers that if he can deal with his friends' new diet, he can have been back as Crimson.

As always, John Solo is a great narrator and does such a great job at bringing characters to life. I look forward to whenever the next book is ready.
