About this listen

Two Seattle Homicide Detective Jim Shea never takes work home with him - until now. A judge banged his gavel, declared a defendant not guilty, and laid waste to a family. The emotional fallout of the trial leaves Jim vulnerable and duty-bound to the victim's dying father. It's that man's story that screenwriter Griffin Drake and his best friend, actress Daisy Baylor, see as their ticket out of action blockbusters and into more serious fare. But to get the juicy details, Griffin needs to win over the stoic and protective Detective Shea. Their attraction is immediate, and Daisy encourages Griffin to use it to their advantage: secure the man, secure the story. Neither man has had much luck when it comes to love, and when their one night together evolves into a long weekend of rapidly intensifying feelings, both Griffin's fierce loyalty to Daisy and his very career is put to the test. Because the more Griffin is drawn into a new life with Jim, the more his Hollywood life falls apart. Secrets and broken trust threaten Griffin's relationships, and he'll have to choose between telling the truth or writing a Hollywood ending.

Read the Series with this one last...glad I did...

Any additional comments?

It really didn't make any sense to me to break the series up and read about 2 totally different characters before finishing with the main characters of the series, so I read this one last intentionally. It can be read independently without any problem at all in the series. It wasn't as good as the other books in the series, in fact I found it tedious at times and mechanical in the writing and narration, but I gave it 4 stars because I am thinking about the overall series. I'd like another installment in fact. Not with these folks though. You did enough with them.

Good story - narrator is still bad

I bought both books by TM at the same time and the lesson I learned was; LISTEN TO THE SAMPLE before u do that!
This story is a little different than the first, since its not a comming out story, and i liked the first better. But i think it depends on your preference. Its still a good story - but since there is no soul deep sorrow in this story, the narrator stands out even more. Still sounds like someone in need of comfort all the time.. READ the book instead.

All About Faith

In this second book of the series, readers meet a new couple who live clear across the country. Their story is uniquely their own and just as compelling as Evan and Matt from book one. The author has the ability to create a complex storyline while maintaining focus on the couple. As the plot weaves around them, its the relationship forming between Jim and Griffin that held my attention.

The narrator once again gives a perfect performance, using his voice to enhance the story. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series... I'm starting to feel as if these characters are my friends.

I review for the Guilty Indulgence Review Site.

enjoyed it

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, interesting story.
I enjoyed getting to know Jim and Griffin and liked their chemistry.

🎧 Narrator comment: I have no real issues with JP Handler's narration, his style is his own and I found nothing overtly wrong with it. He has good timing, the emotions of the story came through and I could tell the characters apart, overall I enjoyed it and wouldn't not listen to it again.

📌 Where does it fall on my personal scale? gets a 7 if i'm doing a series re-listen, but the story wasn't compelling enough for me to seek it out on its own.
