About this listen

When Lucy Hawkins receives a job offer in San Francisco, she can't wait to spread her wings and leave her small Virginia hometown behind. Her close-knit family supports her as best they can, by handing over the keys to a station wagon that's seen better days. The catch? The cross-country trip comes with a traveling companion: her older brother's best friend, a.k.a. the guy who took Lucy's virginity hours before breaking her heart.

After spending the past four years and every last dime caring for his sick father, Reece Sullivan will do just about anything to break free of the painful memories - even if it means a two-week road trip with the one girl who ever made it past his carefully guarded exterior. But after long days of bickering in the car turn into steamy nights in secluded motel rooms, Reece learns that, when it comes to Lucy, their story is far from over. And this time, they just might have a shot at a happy ending.

Contains mature themes.

Why???? 4/20

The story started off with a bang.... a little slow and repetitive but couldn’t wait to see what happens..... Then WTF🤯😤🤬 why....just WHY was the ending like that???? Made both characters extremely stupid I wanted to through my phone.... but I pushed through it n wish the ending was different..
The narrators were great if they didn’t imitate different genders.. any book with both male/ female narrators r the only ones I listen to

Male narrator sucked

Decent plot but male narrator's imitation of a southern accent was trash. If you can get past that you might actually enjoy the story. You may get annoyed at Lucy and Reese for stubbornly thinking they know what the other person is thinking instead of actually communicating but still a good listen aside from the male narration.

Made Me Yell At My Phone

I have never been so frustrated with a MMC as I was with Reese. Omg! Lucy has the patience of a saint because I would have been gone with the wind never to be seen again lol But they were so cute. I’m a sucker for childhood friends to lovers. Great performance by the voice actors too.

A series usually has familiar characters

First, I'll start with the fact that a series usually includes characters from a previous book, this is yet again a whole new story.
The narration is super cheesy and at first, I could barely listen, but after a while I got used to it and lowered my expectations. The female narrator is okay, it's the male that is hard to handle.
The story itself is pretty good if you can get past the narration and that it has nothing to do with the first two books.

The accents got me

It took everything I had to get past the male narrator’s fake southern accent. The general narrations were not great, but when he narrated for the brother I CRINGED! I never really got into the story but I got the ick early on.

My Least Favorite of the Series

I gave this three stars for the performance because I didn’t really care for the male narrator. I just didn’t think that Rudy’s voice went well with the character of Reese. I won’t say that he’s an awful voice actor, because he isn’t, but it just didn’t fit with what I pictured how Reese would talk if he were a real person. It also could do with the fact that his female voice was kind of creepy. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt though because a lot of men don’t talk well as girls, which is OK with me. Ha ha.

I did enjoy the story, but not as much as the first two books in the series. I didn’t laugh like I did with the previous books. In fact, I don’t think I laughed one time listening to this book because it was sad until the end.

I also think she ever used the F word in this book. It was just too much for my liking and I don’t think that the book has to be successful because of those words.

this one was ok

This book was not as good as Good Girl or Blurred Lines if the series had started with this book I would not have continued. I am not a fan of the present time to past flip flop... I found myself skipping the past chapters... the present time chapters made a terrific story they did not need the Back stories she could have told it in one chapter and been done

Accent gone wrong

Good story. Was not a fan of the male narrators country voice for the male or female part.

Moody

I’ve never been frustrated with two lovers like this! Lashing out, wanting, arguing, not apologizing, tying it all together-Wheeew!

Horrid accent!

Story is fine, narrator choices are not. The supposed Virginia accent is atrocious! Made listening painful
