About this listen

Working for my ex-boyfriend? Sure. But falling for him again? That's a deal breaker.

Dancing around my office in my bra isn't exactly the way I'd have chosen to run into my ex for the first time in 12 years, but what can I say? Wes Lake has always had a knack for showing up at the most inopportune times.

Unfortunately, he also has a knack for leaving. That's why I've made every effort to put him out of my head - and my heart.

But this time, he needs my help. Wes Lake, head of Manhattan's preeminent real estate development firm, needs my tiny little marketing start-up to take on a special project at his company. The money's too good to turn down, so even though I'm leery of working for my ex, I accept.

There's just one problem: I can't stop kissing him.

I know better. I swear I do. But that doesn't stop my lips from being magnetically drawn to his every time we're in the same room. Can you blame me? He's gorgeous, wealthy, powerful - and he still remembers how to push all the right buttons.

So to keep things professional, Wes and I strike another kind of deal.

  • No kissing.
  • No talking about the past.
  • No seeing each other outside of work.
  • Did I mention no kissing?

Shouldn't be a problem, right? Except I might have underestimated Wes. Because when it comes to business - or pleasure - he'll do anything to seal the deal.

Even if it means breaking my heart in the process.

Contains mature themes.

This one had me tear up. Super sweet.

Narrators were great. Her long pauses are kind of annoying but she's still pretty good. I just bump the speed up on her chapters lol

I liked this story, the characters, and the female voice actor. I can't say I loved the male one. Every sentence sounded the same from him-- his inflection was the SAME every single sentence and it sounded sooooo scripted from him. It pulled me out of the story every chapter he narrated. The plot itself was good and I think the timing of it flowed well. There were some cringy bits but mostly it was fine!

Good story, meh narration

I thought this was a refreshing spin on a second chance romance. and the spice was immaculate!!!

a fresh take on a second chance

I enjoyed the background stories and how they were intertwined. I especially liked Wes's life story. The way bits and pieces of his life were injected into the book made it seem almost like a mystery to solve.

the style of writing

When the book first began, I thought, “why not?” So I kept listening waiting for that moment to be 100% hooked and needing to know the outcome. That point never came. I grew more and more frustrated with the idea of a grown woman being so hung up on events that occurred in high school. Her age wasn’t believable from the pure self-centeredness and emotional maturity. The FMC wasn’t very likable. I have a headache now from listening to her inner thoughts and actions for so many hours.

Long for no reason

There was alot of internal dialog from FMC and she acted like a lovesick high schooler and forgave too quickly..I skipped a lot of chapters..Narrators did a good job.

Could have been shorter..

The storyline was good. The male narrator’s voice did not match with the character in my opinion. Sounded like a 60 year old grandpa not a sexy 20-something. Threw my off the whole book.

Cute love story

This book was written well. Made me cry and and route for her not to do it. It was a little fun. It has the family vibe

An emotionally endearing, heartbreaking but heartwarming at the same time and a beautifully romantic journey to go on with Wes and Rory. I adored this story.

Wes and Rory

Wes and Rory are high school sweethearts that fell pray to the number one problem in relationships - lack of communication. She thinks he ran; he thinks she was better off without him. fast forward 12 years, and Wes is a huge success in real estate and needs Rory's help. She is reluctant, but can't resist their chemistry or the deal he offers her tiny start up. Problem is that he has a big secret that could tear them apart.

This book is steamy, sweet. and tender. There is a lot of miss communication and assumptions made by both. Their adventures ring true and mostly pass a reality check. The narrators are passionate and act out the book in a way that brings it to life.

Wes & Rory = too steamy to contain
