About this listen

Evie Rosen has had enough. She's tired of the partners at her law firm emailing her at all hours of the night. The thought of another online date makes her break out in a cold sweat. She's over the clever hashtags and the endless selfies. So when her career hits a surprising roadblock, and her heart is crushed by Facebook, Evie decides that it's time to put down her smartphone for good. (Beats stowing it in her underwear - she's done that, too!)

And that's when she discovers a fresh start for real conversations, fewer distractions, and living in the moment, even if the moments are heartbreakingly difficult. Babies are born; marriages teeter; friendships are tested. Evie may find love and a new direction when she least expects it, but she also learns that just because you unplug your phone doesn't mean you can also unplug from life.

Good book

I liked the storyline. The story is interesting. I would like to find more books like this.

Kind of wanna-be Bridget Jones

I can see the insecurities, the pressure of the family and the age thing. But, all together in a very annoying main character made this a long-winded, predictable book.

irritating main character

New author for me. In this book, I find Evie irritating and tiring. I was impatient with her selfishness toward her friends. Weirdly, very little is written about Edward's daughter and Evie's relationship. But if course, I will try more books from the author.

main character not relatable

I'm not done with the book yet, so maybe it will get better, but I am very put off by the main character being a woman in her mid 30s and feeling threatened by high school girls and comparing her looks to theirs and going as far as copying their looks. This feels totally unrelatable to the experience of a woman in their mid 30s. Maybe I'm too old, because I've crossed into my early 40s, but I haven't compared myself to high school girls since I was in high school. what is happening here?

update 1: I'm further in. Seems to have gotten worse before getting better. A high school student made a move on a woman in her mid 30s, and she briefly considered it before saying no?!?

update 2: finished the book. the main character is a bit infuriating.

this book side, I have enjoyed other books by this author, especially Last Summer at the Golden Hotel and the Floating Feldman's.

Don't !

This book is 100% predictable. The writing is simplistic and the main character is annoying and one dimensional. It amazes me how books like this get published. I began using it as a means to fall asleep at night.
