About this listen

The repercussions of an illicit affair unfold in this short story by bestselling author Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Dear stranger…

A desperate young woman in Southern California sits down to write a letter to a man she’s never met - a choice that will forever change both their lives.

My heart goes out to you, David. Even though I do not know you…

The correspondence between Carrie Allsop and David Mayer reveals, piece by piece, the painful details of a devastating affair between their spouses. With each commiserating scratch of the pen, they confess their fears and bare their souls. They share the bewilderment over how things went so wrong and come to wonder where to go from here.

Told entirely through the letters of two comforting strangers and those of two illicit lovers, Evidence of the Affair explores the complex nature of the heart. And ultimately, for one woman, how liberating it can be when it’s broken.

easy read - starts slow but becomes addicting

The book is amazing. Ending is perfect. I sincerely hope that this would be transformed into a movie as it would be the first of its kind. 10/10

Recommended to my younger sister and older sister in law and they both loved it as well !!

Good

This story is told through the perspective of letters between two lovers and their spouses. It’s quick and fast paced story spanning several months and years. The story pulled me in and wanting to know more. It wraps up with a great twist.

Unique style

Absolutely adore this book. Author's unique approach was fresh and filled with the "less is more" style so infrequently seen.

Poignant and fascinating collection of letters between two strangers who are united by evidence of their spouses deceit.

This is a great listen

The narrators were wonderful and I could feel the emotions this woman felt. I think the ending was perfect for this story and will definitely listen to it again.

Interesting

Incredible how something so quick and short could be so poignant.

All of the narrators aided in bringing the four characters words to light.

Worth the 99 cents

This is my second book by the author and I’m impressed. The conversational style of her writing is one I really enjoy. I didn’t know what to expect from this short story but it exceeded any expectation I may have had.
Because it is so short I feel like if I say anything it’ll be a spoiler so my only advice is give it a listen (or read) if you have been considering it

Heartbreaking and real

I love epistolary novels (stories) and this one doesn’t disappoint.
Well written heartbreaking & honest look at a “taboo” subject.
The self actualisation of the characters felt so real and the surprise ending was a delight!
