Publisher's summary

There was no doubt that the woman who called herself Evie Shaw was the key to the high-tech conspiracy that threatened Robert Cannon's computer company - and he meant to take her down personally. But as he trailed her into the heart of a long, hot Southern summer, he found himself questioning everything he believed. For he was face to face with a breathtaking passion - for a woman who had to be as guilty as sin....

smack that boy!

Best if read after Duncan’s Bride, featuring Madelyn Patterson. Robert Cannon is Madelyn’s stepbrother and I’d always looked forward to his story but was So disappointed with what a jackass he turned out to be. He So did Not deserve Evangeline.
I really wanted HIM to suffer and suffer because he hurt her on so many levels. I wanted to smack the arrogance and ignorance out of him, and I don’t like feeling so evil.
Lockford did an ok job of narration.

loved it! It was everything required of a romance

Robert was a dream, and the storyline worked.
Evie was an Independent and strong woman.

Loving Evangeline

Love this story. Linda Howard writes such strong female characters that it is hard not to become enraptured with them. The narrator did an excellent job of giving each character their own life and breathing a depth into the story. One of my favorite stories.

Good characters and performance

I liked the book as a whole, but so very many things bothered me. I spent most of the book thinking what a presumptuous jerk the main male character was, while wondering why Evangeline took it. Then I wondered where her backbone was and why her wants and wishes were never discussed. Do not want to do a spoiler... but at the end, why don’t we know what happened to the Marina and her old friends and life? Love is not the only answer, compromise and caring what are the wants of both characters is necessary. I found myself wishing for more of a backbone from Evangeline and more information then happily ever after with kids.

Loved it!

Would you consider the audio edition of Loving Evangeline to be better than the print version?

Not necessarily but the audio version allows me to get other things done and still be able to appreciate the story.

What other book might you compare Loving Evangeline to and why?

In someways it is like Duncan's bride but still the storylines are different enough to be enjoyable and not just a repeat. It's that alpha male thing .

Have you listened to any of Lesa Lockford’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The comparison of the performances are the same she did a great job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not an extreme reaction just an enjoyable one.

Any additional comments?

I felt it was well worth the credit, and I will read other Linda Howard books.

Software $secrets....~ 4 STAR early Linda Howard~

Plot: Millionaire Robert Cannon finds his computer software secrets are being sold to a foreign power.

Wealthy Computer Genius Robert Cannon is out to find who is selling software secrets ....he suspects "Greedy FLUNKY" Landon Mercer. Mercer is trailed to Shaw's Marina where he rents a boat but does not fish. The lovely Evie Shaw who owns the marina is soon suspected as being 'part' of the scheme. Hunky Robert shows up at the marina to rent a boat and check out Evie.....Evie has been watching Mercer who she thinks is selling drugs and using her boats as his "delivery" .....method. Robert is drawn to the lovely widow Evie....but he is a "yankee"...LOL....He finds patience is the way to gain her trust. AS the couple turn up the heat into a very hot affair....Robert shows his ruthless side when he manipulates Evie to near financial ruin....as part of his investigation. Evie will not trust him again.....she feels used and hurt. Robert finds all the money in the world cannot buy respect love and trust. Now he must find a way to start over with Evie. This is a very good romance. it starts slow and at times Robert is too ruthless but his overbearing Type A personality shows in his every move. Evie takes his every challenge and lands on her feet ....as a heroine she is great. One of the better early Linda Howard Romances. tie into Duncan's Bride with Robert Canon being the brother of Madelyn........I give this 4 STARS~ Lesa Lockford does a good job for presentation. look for Come Lie with Me in April by Dreamscape Media Audio by Linda Howard.

Linda Howard? Doesn't seem like it.

The narrator was horrible but she completely ruined a book that could have been great. Producers, authors or whomever is in charge of selecting narrator, selecting the right narrator ( for an audio book) is as important as the book itself. At times, the book was so boring, It was hard to finish it.

Robert just KNOWS he has caught his Thief...

Robert from Book 1 has a Thief in his Organization and he thinks he has caught her. He just needs the proof on camera. Robert is a very cut and dry - black and white - in or out kind of guy. He has convicted Evangeline before he has even met her. Then when he does met her, well, then the story really gets going...(I wouldn't dare ruin it for you)

High handed

Admittedly, I couldn’t get very far into this book, the “hero” did more than rub me the wrong way, his high handedness felt abrasive and uncomfortable. His behavior was demeaning and abusive. Truly, the way in which he was so controlling is the earmark of an abuser. I couldn’t listen to a whole story that glorifies and romanticizes that kind of behavior.
