About this listen

Grier MacInnes buried three fiances in the Black Death; soon she'll be replaced by her cousin's teen bride as Lady of Durness Castle. After two decades in Greenland, Rydar Hansen is desperate to return to Norway and reclaim his inheritance - if he still has one. Thrown together by a North Sea storm, they don't speak the same language. But apart from each other, they have no future.

Good Story, poor narration

I enjoyed the story overall, but the narrator was a poor choice for this story. At times the lengthy descriptions tended to drag, but at other times the story flowed well.

Strange Story

The Publisher's Summary made "Loving the Norseman" sound interesting, but after listening to it over 5 hours, I wouldn't go that far...it's nothing like I expected. It's a very strange book...I keep waiting for something to happen.

In the first 5+ hours, the Norse hero was rescued from the sea by the heroine and her cousin. His broken leg is still healing, the stitches have been removed from the gash on his face. He's learning her language and she his. There has been some action, but not well written, did not generate excitement, it was so matter-of-fact. It's moving very S-L-O-W. I don't have the patience to finish it now, it's too boring...perhaps later on???

I'm finally getting accustomed to the narrator's voice and reading style, but at first he read like one might read a Dick & Jane book, "See Spot Run". Perhaps a different narrator could have improved "Loving the Norseman", but it's doubtful.

I can't recommend this book.
