About this listen

Kevin was a hard worker. He never allowed anyone to give him anything he didn’t earn. It’s just how he was raised.

Well, something was given to him that he didn’t deserve, accidentally. But it’s not something that can be given back: Power. Magical Power.

Kevin was given the last vial in existence of a Magical solution. More like it smashed into him. There’s just one problem: he’s human. Humans aren’t supposed to know about the Magical world. Why’s that? Because humans can’t do Magic. Period. Oh, don’t get the wrong idea; Earth knows about Magic. But only in the form of stories. Kevin is about to be rudely introduced to it, and in a painful way.

He will also learn that Earth isn’t alone, but Earth will never find out. There is a whole galaxy out there with other worlds that use Magic to travel. Though the worlds are inhabited by those creatures we read about in stories. Such as Werewolves, Vampires, Beasts, Changelings, Fairies, and even Goblins to name a few. But some are still on Earth, if you look hard enough. Though as a human, you might not want to do that. There’s no such thing as spaceships going across the stars. It’s all done by Magical means as Kevin is about to find out.

His new trainer, Marrisa, is a no-nonsense kind of gal, with ears and a tail, who doesn’t take crap from anyone. Except, she is about to find that Kevin doesn’t take kindly to her attitude. But it seems that bounty hunters all have chips on their shoulders, and Marrisa’s chip is the size of a barn. Can they work together, or will Kevin have to ditch her and find someone else to train him? No one wants to work with Marrisa, but her bosses are telling her that Kevin’s her problem now.

Join the pair as they try to figure out how not to kill each other. And watch the sparks fly between them, especially when a fellow female bounty hunter has a thing for Kevin!

great so far but...

I'm currently on chapter 12, and loving the story so far. by the way I think this is the authors better works. The audio breaks and gaps are terrible but narrator... sigh

Really captivating

Not much to complain about. Story is a little slow in sports, but entirely within my limits. In the end, a story well told.

I needed this

I'll come right and say it, I'm biased on this book. I like this genre, I enjoy them however I've stopped listening to the genre for a few reasons. 1st, whiny immature MCs that are passive and submissive and apologetic for everything, in a word a doormat in his high school or early college years. 2nd, female characters that just magically fall in love at first sight and are oh so overly willing to do anything. Thankfully this book has neither. The MC is well into the mid 20s, stands up for himself, doesn't whine and pursues what he wants, which is more than happy bedroom fun times. The main female character even has a character arc beyond drooling over MC. Hell the happy bedroom times only happens twice and both are in the last hour of the book, and are not explicit, which is a nice change.
Outside of these proclivities to this specific genre, the book is well written with decent world building, the characters are distinct and varied, there's some humor, enough for levity but not enough to drown the story, there's a natural progression. All in all this is a solid if not excellent book that was a fun read. there would need to be a bit more character development, background, and more showing than telling, also a bit more connective tissue between events to be more than popcorn fiction and a fun way to pass time as I do other things.
As for the narration, this one is tough. The narrator really sells the character, and fits perfectly, and even adds quiet a bit to the story. There's just one problem, the MC is supposed to be an American and the narrator as a distinct British accent.
Over all there are worse ways to spend a credit, sadly there are better as well, even so I would recommend this book to people that enjoy the genre and would like a more mature MC.

Good Story, Interesting Worlds

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the characters and worlds involved. An interesting take on fantasy creatures and where they went and what they are doing. Intriguing romance possibilities and I'm really wondering where this will go?

Great new series!

Love the authors books and am pleased with this new series. I normally like to have two narrators for male and female characters. This narrator did match the MC very well. I look forward to future installments. I enjoyed the new take on magic and the worlds it exists on.

Just a few criticisms

I like the concept of the AB, but Mr Fox's slight British accent doesn't go for the 5 burrows of New York. now the voices of the beastkin having a right good Scottish accent was great. it also needs a female voice...badly.
