About this listen

Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy, along with the men and women of the U.S.S. Walker, are once again at war. Having sided with the peaceful Lemurians against the savage, reptilian Grik, they now find themselves scrambling to prepare for the attack that is sure to come, searching for resources to support their forces - even as they look for allies to join their struggle.

Meanwhile, the Japanese juggernaut Amagi, also trapped in this strange world, is under Grik control---with her fanatical commander approaching madness. And soon they will have amassed a force that no amount of firepower and technology will be able to stop.As the raging conflict approaches, Reddy, his crew, his allies, and his loved ones face annihilation. But if there is one thing they have learned about their new world, it is that hope - and help - may be just over the horizon.

More battles.

A few slow spots here and there, but that is to be expected. I really am enjoying this series.

FYI, people complaining about AUDIO books prices when comparing them to a paper back book. Think for a second. The audio book must be produced, scripted to a point, and a GOOD actor hired to read the book and act out all parts. Don't whine about an audio books price

A long build up to a great wind up.

Better than Book 2!

I was disappointed by the second book's failure to at least attempt to conclude any story lines. This was much better. A long build up to a long great battle and a more or less proper ending.

Obvious sequels to come for sure, but at least now I feel I can choose to continue the series, or to end it here without feeling like I read just half a book.

Dufris - great narration as usual.

The Series Without Fail

This epic doesn't lose steam for even a minute. Incredible behind description with heartbreaking war tragedy and twists at every chapter. Unbelievable.

Better than first two books in series

Plot twists and new characters start to make the series less of a Lost Regiment copy. Plenty of action scenes compensate for the leaden romantic relationships. Sets up well for next book although you could comfortably stop here.

Fewer Issues

A solid improvement performance wise, as well as an excellent final clash against USS Walker's fated nemesis. A must read/listen through and through.

My Commute Addiction

What did you love best about Maelstrom?

I drive at least 2-3 hours a day and have been listening to Taylor Anderson's Destroyermen series. I simply can't get enough - I used to dread my commute time, but now I look forward to every chance I get to listen. I've even exchanged my music list while jogging for more time to listen to these stories. Dufris is amazing as the narrator; he has brought each of the characters alive. I will be incredibly sad when I have completed the series (and will likely grieve by listening to them all over again!!!). I'm simply addicted to this story and hope Mr. Anderson has no plans to stop the series any time soon.
