Better Than the 1st book

I did enjoy listening to this murder mystery with good narration. It is about Dr Donna DeShayne a forensic psychiatrist who is called in to help with woman (Lacey Sue) brutalized and not responding appropriately to help cops solve murder of her husband and protecting her daughter which she hid in a closet, it does have twists and turns as well as good characterization and insane religious cult. Look forward to next one. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU

Definitely better than book one in the series :)

It's the second book in Dr Donna DeShayne series and I definitely liked it much better than book one.
It's more logical, more focused on the case itself rather than Donna's private life and that's what makes it more concise, more logical, more fast-paced and in result more engaging for the reader/listener.

The case Donna is involved in is intriguing, to say the least; I like the idea of the main witness/suspect remaining silent (in a catatonic state) and only being able to speak in her own mind, giving us retrospections into what had happened... That's a clever solution; it explains why the investigation gets stuck or takes wrong turns while not leaving us in total confusion...:)

Narration by Ms Hazen is as good as ever; she reads the narrative parts balancing excellently the emotional with the strictly descriptive elements and is a real master when it comes to voicing individual characters.

It's a must for fans of crime thrillers.

Compelling, Powerful, and A Must Read

After listening to Bella Fayre’s wonderful book, Sisters of the Scorned, I was compelled to listen to Fayre previous two books in her Dr Donna DeShayne series. I was riveted and profoundly touched by Sisters of the Scorned, and I found Maelstroms of the Silent and Guardian of the Damned equally powerful. Fayre provides detailed historical accuracy within a spellbinding story. I am posting this same review for Maelstroms and Guardian since I am at a loss for words on how to praise them without repeating myself. I hope you will join me in celebrating Fayre’s gift for storytelling and Kelley Hazen’s bringing everything to life in her reading.

Maelstroms of the Silent

A thrilling and suspenseful mystery. Dr. Donna DeShayne is brought in on a case to help the authorities solve a brutal crime where a man was killed and his wife was left beaten, broken, and catatonic. I couldn’t put this book down, as the clues are unraveled, leading to the somewhat unexpected conclusion.

Bella Fayre definitely kept my interest as she methodically presented the story. Alternating between the events leading to the crime and the events following... I found myself constantly jumping to conclusions, only to have them dashed in the following chapters. Very entertaining!

A key part of any successful audiobook is finding the perfect narrator. Kelley Hazen is that narrator. She brings out each characters personality while presenting the story. The emotions are real. I would not hesitate to listen to any book performed by Ms. Hazen.

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and extremely enjoyable. When Dr. Donna DeShanye is awaken bright and early on a Sunday morning by the police, she knows it's not good news. But Donna is always willing to help. She's drawn into a grizzle crime with a woman beaten both physically and mentally. She's determined to help both the female victim and the Detective in charge of the case. . Suspense and humour dominate this novel. It's interesting and intriguing characters keep you listening, wondering what unexpected twist will happen next. The combination of author and narrator makes it very enjoyable and it is quickly moving up in my top 10 of mystery series.

Maelstroms of the Silent was a good read by Bella Fayre. There is a brutal murder with a catatonic victim. The local law enforcement is turning to Dr. Donna DeShayne, an area psychiatrist who specializes in forensics. She is determined to treat and protect her catatonic patient to find the victim’s secret. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author. I loved the life that Kelley Hazen brought to the characters.
