About this listen

***Magic of the Damned: Complete Series***

They say you should never make a deal with the devil, but what about with the Prince of the Underworld?

Fresh off a breakup and an eviction, I started my day like any other: a book in one hand, a coffee in the other, and faking that can-do attitude inspirational memes are made of. I was ready to take on the world—and I did.
Unfortunately, it was the Underworld.

One freak accident later, I’m standing face to face with the sexy-as-sin and dangerously powerful Prince of the Underworld. He has a few burning questions for me—like how a mere human unlocked the door to the Underworld’s prison and released its prisoners.

I’d sure as hell like to know, too, because I have no freaking clue.

Now, instead of a forgettable bookstore clerk, I’m newly famous for doing the impossible. The wrong people want to thank me, and the rest want me dead. Spoiler alert: The Dark Prince definitely doesn’t want to thank me.

I’ll do anything to get my life back to normal and he’ll do anything to recapture the escapees. We make a deal: He’ll keep my enemies at bay, and I’ll find a way to return the prisoners.

What could possibly go wrong?

Good story on supernatural conflicts between factions

the conflicts between the supernatural factions and the person reading the book to us. I enjoyed the content and the issues between family members. and the ending.

Not supposed to be a trashy romance novel.

I had to keep fast forwarding through minutes of sex scenes to get back to the story. First two books were great and the story in this one was too. Someone must have felt it needed filler and threw in twenty minutes of sex scenes.

1 narrator feeling like multiple

While the story felt rushed, it was still a really good story to listen to! I was initially disappointed it was only one narrator but she did an absolute beautiful job trying to separate the characters voices! Was a good listen to with medium 🌶️ level. Which I could appreciate as I would listen to this at work and didn’t have to skip crazy 10 minute 🌶️ “scenes”. There’s a bit of easy to spot foreshadowing but the character wasn’t entirely blind to them like how some MC’s tend to be in other series. I found myself laughing and shouting numerous times through out this series & just getting lost in the underworld.

Magic of the Damned Series

A great series. I enjoyed the storyline and characters were thought out. Luna and Dominic relationship made from need, low interest then blooming into love. Dysfunctional family, too much mistrust and more envy than love.

Great character development

Loved the interesting twist on old mythological creatures. I would listen to all her books.

Not her best work

I have loved all the books I have read by Mackenzie Hunter. Unfortunately this one isn’t on par. It took me starting and stopping it 3 times before I finally managed to finish it. The storyline as a whole was good it just had some slow areas. The romance wasn’t as smooth and butterfly invoking as her work usually is. All things considered I still love her writing and will continue to read her series! :)

Great series

This series is packed full of magic and magical creatures. This was the last book in the series. It moved a little slow and poor Luna…every time they thought they had things figured out, someone would crash their hopes and dreams. It was a great end to this series.

I LOVE listening to Amelia Hugh. She does an incredible job of narrating with emotional. She definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.

Poor story

The narrator did great. Loved the different voices. The story however left so much to be desired. It became almost a hate listen. Don’t waste a credit or money on this. The story was agonizingly slow and the main character thinks much too highly of her importance. I just wanted to shake her she was so annoying. When dealing with the supernatural world she acted like a tourist who goes to another country and wonders why everyone doesn’t do things the same way it’s done back in her home country and demands you change it to her country’s way.

Red Flags a Flyin'

The characters are interesting and made better by the narrator but the story is ridiculous. More to the point the writing is bad. it reads like a college assignment that requires the student to use as many archaic, over blown, excessive words as possible. To put it their way the author is a Sesquipedalian. Story has some big red flags for me. Main character is violent and amoral and uses sex with the other main to release this or post murder tension. For me this is a big no. Don't waist the time on this one.
