Publisher's summary

Trust me: the world doesn’t need a bunch of BFFs with beards.

I’ve watched men change from confident, decisive, and action-oriented lions to second-guessing, scared-of-their-shadows, don’t-rock-the-boat mice. They don’t feel confident in relationships, work environments - or anywhere. Men are either looking for something or running from something; maybe a bit of both.

Well, it’s time to stop running. It’s time to "man up" to face the real issues.

Being a real man is about being true to yourself first. It means finding strength from living authentically and then sharing that strength with others. Being a real man means understanding who you are and how to influence the world for the better. A real man is an asset to those around him. He doesn’t have to take charge, but he leads the charge, and people want to join in. A real man draws people in. In fact, he is completely irresistible.

Men may feel like they have lost the permission they once had to be men, but I’m here to tell you that you don’t need permission. You don’t need anyone authorizing you to be who you were meant to be. It’s time to stop trying to please everyone else. It’s time to stop apologizing for thinking like a man, acting like a man, and being a man.

It’s time to Man Up!

Good — but quite religious

The opinions in this book are quite decent and helpful, but if you are familiar with religious backgrounds you will notice that many of the advice is riddled with religious bias. Still a good read and great audio by the author.

Good listen.

The interview process was a little hard to follow. If I wasn't paying close enough attention I would lose track of when Scott was speaking and when his interviewee was speaking. Overall this was a great listen and would recommend it.

No BS

I met Scott about a year ago, shortly after listening to this the first time. I can tell you Scott is in real life just as he appears in this book. Scott’s no nonsense and no bs attitude is 100% real and true to life, as well as a larger than life demeanor. He is someone that all the men in our group look up to, both figuratively and literally. This is a phenomenal book that I have recommended to many already.

Great book, could use 2 narrators for interviews

Loved it. Only suggestion would be that the "interviews" not be done by the same narrator. It was confusing have both the interviewer and interviewee both in the same voice. I never knew who was talking. Over all great though.

Great but ….

Great book. ** would be AMAZING to have the interviews done like David Goggins does in his books …. Like a podcast interview **

Super religious

There are some nuggets of gold, but it's hard to take the author seriously with all his talk about his imaginary friend doing this and that and that other thing.

Very confusing who was who on the interview parts.

I hard a very hard time trying to decipher who was who on the interview portion throughout the book. But other than that, the book was great!

great message

I really liked it. He reads his book well, lots of ideas and things to consider to become a better man, or for women to understand men a bit better. he does mention religion, but because thats who he is, its not preachy as I was led to believe by the other reviews.
