Publisher's summary

Pub owner Maura Donovan hasn't seen her mother for over 20 years, so when she suddenly shows up in Maura's pub, Maura's not sure what to expect. Her mother is trying to find a life for herself back home and has taken up a position working with the new owners of the Crann Mor hotel just outside Skibbereen. That is until her new boss is found dead in the gardens, dumped down the hillside behind the hotel.

Now, trying to rekindle the relationship they've lost, Maura must investigate in order to clear her mother's name. It's not so easy, though, as longtime residents of County Cork, including the families of her employee Mick, and the family of the deceased hotel owner, have bottled deep, dark family secrets not meant to be uncorked. And someone will kill to keep them that way.

How far would you go to protect your family? Maura tests the age-old question in Many a Twist, the charming and atmospheric sixth County Cork mystery from New York Times best-selling author Sheila Connolly.

5 Stars

I thought the last book was a bit off, so I'm happy to say that this one was really good. The mystery was entertaining with good pacing and plot twists. There is character development for all of the characters with room for more advancement in the future. I look forward to listening to the next book in this series.

Everything there should be in a book!

I love this narrator. She sounds smart, educated, classy and experienced in narrating books. It’s a refreshing change from what I’ve been listening to lately! Of course the author is excellent and her writing skills are as good as her ability to transport the “reader” (listener) to another life. I will continue to listen to her stories and listen to her narrator.

Mora is growing up.

Earlier books in Rotherham series were a little frustrating because to me l didn’t the Mora’s behavior was mature enough for her age and life experience. This book seemed to bring her more of age. This was such any easy going and relaxing book to listen to. I am glad I picked back up on the series again.

About the Journey, Not the Destination

This low-key series is not about figuring out a mystery but enjoying Maura's journey from American visitor to valued member of a small Irish community, building friendships, accepting human flaws and deciding professional goals.

I can't say if the author's depiction of Ireland is authentic or realistic but I find this series entertaining and engrossing in a quiet, thoughtful way. Very mild language and sexual situations, with an emphasis on a relationships.

Favorite in the Series 😊

The sixth in the County Cork Mysteries kept me listening almost nonstop. I had my hackles up when the arrogant, millionaire owner of the Crann Mor hotel came to visit Sullivan's pub proposing some sort of collaboration. I felt for Maura and her staff as they had to deal with him and his team from the states. As usual, there were all sorts of other things going on in the story, Maura's artist friend, Gillian is pregnant and about to give birth to a baby, and Gillian's boyfriend, may or may not be ready to be a father. not to mention that their home is no where near ready for the new addition to their family. When the snooty old John Byrne was found dead in the garden of the Crann Mor, not many mourned the loss. But the lady heading the team from America, Helen Jenkins was horrified when she was brought in by the Garda . . . yet, surprisingly the first thing she asked was to speak to Maura privately. 😮 Disclosing that she was Maura's mother, who had abandoned her following the death of Maura's father, Maura was aghast. What follows is an amazing tale of discovery, sadness, investigation and well, love. All the favorites at Sullivan's pull together to help Maura investigate the death of John Byrne, help her friend Gillian, whilst having a bit of fun in the process. 😉 Excellent story and conclusion! BRAVO!

Didn’t love didn’t hate

A bit slow. Neutral . I found myself losing interest several times and having to go back and re listen. It just didn’t hold my attention.
