About this listen

I've ruined everything.

I had a mate. Resonance. Happiness. But then T'chai's attacked by ravenous sky-claw and almost killed. To help him recover, I tell the healer to turn off our unfulfilled resonance. It's temporary...or so I think.

Big mistake. Because now my khui acts like it's dead and it hates T'chai. But I still love him. How do we move forward when I can't bear his touch? Is there a way to get back our happiness together, or is it time to give up on what we once had?

T'chai has other plans, though. He's not giving up on us. If it means crossing the world, he's ready to do it at my side.

Contains mature themes.

Sweet Romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 🥲😳😋😙🥰

The heroine: Mari - Mari was one of two human women who were gathering things in the spaceship that was in the ocean when the ship sunk and both her and Lauren (from the first book in this series) floated away and ended up on a lush tropical island with a huge active volcano. Both women resonated to men they met there and were extremely happy.

The Hero: T’Chai - He resonated to Mari from the moment they met. They were both happy about it and fell in love, though before they could fulfill resonance, T’Chai was nearly killed by a giant Sky Claw (like a pterodactyl).

The Story: Though we know the highlights of what initially happened between Mari and T’Chai from Lauren’s story and some of the later books, we didn’t know the details. This book goes back to the island to tell the details of the love story between T’Chai and Mari and how everything went so wrong and Mari had to have the healer turn off her resonance when T’Chai was in a coma.

Turning off Mari’s resonance helps T’Chai’s Qhui to stop focusing on procreation and it does slowly heal him. Though it leaves Mari not feeling anything at all. Things that used to feel great, like touching T’Chai, now feels more annoying than anything. Though T’Chai does take nearly a year to fully recover, Mari is left with an apathy when it comes to T’Chai.

The story is a good one. Mari still loves T’Chai and he her, but when he touched her, something inside her felt wrong. T’Chai could have gotten frustrated and resentful but instead he was always so understanding and steadfast. It was a very good romance.

The book is told in both characters points of view via dual narration. The narrators are Sean Crisden and Felicity Munroe who did a great job and are both pleasant to listen to. I like duet narration quite a bit better than dual narration, but since dual narration is more common, I am used to it and these two narrators do a good job of doing other voices.

I know this series has some crossover with the Fireblood Dragon series in that Ashtar is one of the same dragons from that series. This series has a newcomer when a woman named Daisy is dropped on the planet in her stasis pod. She caries news from Earth that has me wondering what will eventually happen in that series.

Finally!

We finally find out what happened with Mari and T'chai. It took long enough! Lol but it was well worth it. I had moments of really feeling bad for the both of them because of what they were going through.

Oh! And FUCKIN Tia! I was about sick of her ass. And I had no sympathy for those damn tears. I mean I was a flirt at 17 too. He'll! I'm a flirt now at 35, but I always knew limits and boundaries. She has none. And couldn't see that she was the problem. It was definitely time for her to go 🤷🏾‍♀️

Hmmm when rensonance is turned off

I am not sure how I felt about this story. It was a good story for sure, but was it romantic? Yes, I guess so, Was it sexy? Questionable.

Mari has a healer turn off her parasite's resonance to save her mate. He is still resonating with her but she is not with him. So she needs to learn how to like his touch. I know this is just science fiction romance, but you cannot really learn to like someone's touch. You either are attracted to them or you are not. It is nature and biology and nothing that can be controlled which is what is so fun about the Ice Planet Series that for the most part everyone is more or less equal and all the men are more or less of good character and are built like Chris Hemsworth but with horns and blue. And then no matter who you resonate to that is fine because you are attracted to them like crazy for Blue Planet evolutionary purposes. Fine.

However, in the real world so many women, especially in places like the US, marry men they are not necessarily attracted to because they need to or because he is good enough. Not to say that these are bad people or bad guys, but there's not a spark of lust. The relationship between Mari and her husband was so reminiscent of some of my middle-aged friends telling me about a lack of spark in their intimate relationships and even though it works out for Mari and her man, in the end, it doesn't in real life and I didn't want to even be reminded of the relationships my friends, both men and women signed up for because it is kind of depressing. I love Ruby Dixon to escape the reminder that people don't have. The narration by Sean Crisden and Felicity Munroe was great as always. They are the Ice Home voices and although they are similar in style to Hollie Jackson, et al. I find their different takes on this alien world refreshing.

love this series!!

ruby delivers as usual. I can't wait until the next book. I love when a new character arrives giving more mystery on what is yet to come. I like the cave with the indoor pool and am hoping they find another one. the group at the beach seems to need more support. maybe a 3rd group could break off. Murdoch's pal can continue saving humans and delivering them!!

Another good one

Interesting Storyline; I like that each book moves the story along with a unique situation for the main characters. Narrators did a great job with characters. Each book offers some humor that makes me lol 😂. On to the next book!

These stories are SO GOOD!

Ruby is a treat to read. She creates whole Universes that intersect one another and blend together like a fine tapestry or a kaleidoscope! Her writing is FUNNY, heart warming, heart breaking, devastating, and absolutely invigorating! She builds these characters, their bonds, environments, and situations layering together in a way that absorbs you completely into their world. Some of Her characters are more real to me than other people in my own universe. Ruby, you are a Goddess of creation through written world and I adore you! Mari's story was SO DEEP! THANK YOU! WE NEEDED THIS ONE!! AND THE NEW BRANCHES JUST KEEP ON COMING!! SO EXCITED!!

Heartbreaking

This one is heartbreaking with enough levity to balance it out. I’m glad that everyone got a happy ending

Been waiting to find out

They had a lot of build up to this book since the start of the series. It was worth it.
Book goes into detail about Mara’s story and all her hardships. She’s the main one they go around. The lead male was a dream partner and was a trouper.
Wonderful love story.
Narrative was great also.

Real Life

I appreciated the fears Mari had and how her mate was patient with her. His comments and words were reassuring because life comes with challenges. It is important to look for the good as it usually works out in the end. My heart sang for them in the end.

Mari + T’Chai

📚 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🥵-🌶️🌶️🌶️

Mari + T’Chai finally get their story. We first met them back in book 1 when T’Chai is attacked by a skyclaw. I really enjoyed this story, I might have cried a little honestly. It was so sweet and angsty and the HEA was perfect.
