Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Thea Harrison comes the first in a new spellbinding trilogy....

Power can change a person....

For months, Molly Sullivan endures the inexplicable: electrical surges, car breakdowns, visions. She even wonders if she might be the cause...and wonders if she might be crazy. Then she discovers her husband has cheated on her. Again. Now Molly realizes she is a newly awakening witch and a woman pushed over the edge.

Revenge can shape a person....

Josiah Mason is a powerful witch and the leader of a secret coven with a shared goal: to destroy an ancient enemy who has ruined many lives. Josiah lost years to this man, and his sole focus is revenge. He’s prepared for every contingency - except encountering a beautiful new witch who understands nothing of the immense power building within her or the attraction she wields over him.

Danger can bring them together....

When divorcing her husband, Molly uncovers a dangerous secret he’s willing to kill to protect. She turns to Josiah for help, and they discover a connection between Molly’s husband and Josiah’s enemy.

As they work together, a spark ignites between them that threatens to become an inferno. But Molly is done compromising herself for any man, and Josiah’s mission is his top priority. And the enemy is cunning, cruel, and drawing ever closer.

As the danger escalates, so does the tension between them. Is a lasting relationship possible? Will either of them live long enough to try?

Amazing!!!

I expected to not like this book too much because it wasn't about the elder races. Thea is the queen of storytelling. I did think molly was a little naive but came to love her personality. I loved her and Josiah beginning and can't wait for the next story. This was a excellent book and I will listen to it again and again like I do all her books. I loved it.

What a fabulous story

I was delighted with the action packed story that begins when Molly discovers her husband’s infidelity and that she has unknown witch powers on the same day. The plot was fast paced with Josiah and Molly coming to terms with their fast growing attraction and intersecting mystery with finding an evil warlock and funds her husband‘s hidden secrets. I loved Sarah and was happy Molly gets to meet her outside of her dreams. Fantastic story and narrator. Sophie Eastlake is
phenomenal.

Intense and perfect

I have never before put a book down because I didn’t want it to end. It was very tempting to inhale this book in one sitting. I stopped with a couple hours left so I could absorb the story to that point, and let it soak. Sounds crazy I know.
There are parallels to Moonshadow, but only in the framework. This is a continuation of Ms. Harrison’s story, but can stand alone.
Good witches and bad witches fight, and it’s hard to tell who is good and who isn’t, at first. And how to know when you are happy, how to be happy, how to be yourself. I love this story. Even though it made me cry, I will listen to it many many more times.

Seemed to drag on a bit

First, pleases allow me to say to those who have written that this book was nothing but sex; were you reading/listening to the same book that I was? There are sexual episodes, but these were integral to the story.
What I would critique, was that the storyline often dragged a bit for me. I wasn’t all that invested. It had really good points in it, but didn’t keep me from reading two other books in between listening.

Back in the Elder Domain.

I liked the book and it was an easy listen, it just didn’t pull me in as much as the other Elder books. As a romance I was not a fan of the hero, he was a bit of a jerk, I didn’t hate him, but he is not book boyfriend material that sucks me in, then at the end, along with his name change he becomes a different person. Hum? The plot needed more action and less “finding one’s self” for my taste, this part of the book made the story drag on a bit. I loved that the heroine became strong and started to stick up for herself, but she was a little hypocritical when she insisted that the hero give up his fight, then goes and fights the fight all by herself. If Thea is making a spin off series, it would have been nice to get to know the side characters a bit better. Narrator was good, I always enjoy her.

bittersweet

I enjoyed the book but at the end I wanted more. A book 2 would be great.

Absolutely loved it

Can't wait for the rest of the series, but if I heard correctly, Thea has had some struggles over the last few years (its 2022 now) and so my biggest wish is for her to find a smooth path once again

Good book over all.

I passed up on this one many times after readi g so.e reviews. But I did in the end download it. Was pleasantly surprised by how wrong many were. No the author does not get into details on magic like say Terry M. in Spellmonger series but no need to.
Great storyline and was ledt open for another one.
all in all great book.
