About this listen

What color is your thinking hat? In this revolutionary work, Dr. de Bono explains the 6 different hats and how they affect the way we perceive things. He shows how people and organizations can become more effective by using a simple language as a control system for thinking. Learn about the White Hat (facts, figures, and information), the Red Hat (emotions, hunches, and intuition), the Black Hat (negative judgment), the Yellow Hat (brightness and optimism), the Green Hat (fertility and creativity), and the Blue Hat (cool and control). You'll never put on your thinking cap the same way again.©1997 International Center for Creative Thinking and MICA Management Resources, Inc. (P)1997 by Dove Audio, Inc. Worth it.

I would recommend this. My team and I can use it every day. Old material but still worth it. A classic.

Really Good Ideas in an Important Area--Thinking

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Presentation: poor sound quality; sounds like a cheesy radio show from the '50s or '60s.Far too many self-promoting references to "Dr. De Bono" and his genius. "Some say that Dr. De Bono has inherited the mantle that Socrates passed down 2000 years ago." Whaaaa? Pretty full of ourselves, aren't we? Since this work is about thinking methodologies, the focus should be there, rather than on its creator.

Did Master Thinker II inspire you to do anything?

Pretty good script with good illustrative examples of the various "thinking hats." These are really useful ideas on identifying and specifying various ways of thinking: looking at issues from various perspectives and for various purposes. Overall, this is a compelling, analytical way of examining how we view ideas that will prompt us to use rigor in creating and considering ideas, proposals, etc. Worth a read, if not a listen.

meh

A lot of talking about things we already know: people think differently at times and thinking about that can help make decisions amongst different people

So 1950

Would you try another book from Dr. Edward De Bono, MD, MA, PhD, DPhil and/or Dr. Edward De Bono, MD, MA, PhD, DPhil?

The style seemed very old, like I'm watching a film from 1950. It needs to be modernized. Throughout the book they were continuously mixing between all styles that there wasn't a clear separation (besides the blue hat thinking style) between them, what each is and when to use.

Could you see Master Thinker II being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No

Any additional comments?

It needs to be re-modernized

Is Dr. De Bono American?

I purchased this book because I thought it was narrated by the author. As it turns out, a male and female with strong American accents narrate the whole book without introducing themselves. I don't think either of them is Dr. De Bono. I am disappointed. The style is shocking and is not the same text as the physical book which was a true masterpiece.

needs to be re-recorded

Audio sound quality is very distracting. It's sounds like something from a 1950's radio. The audio format that this book is recorded on is not compatible for Zune users.

Terrible old fashioned recording - refund

What would have made Master Thinker II better?

As other reviews have mentioned, this appears to be very dated, and certainly doesn't sound like a narration of a book. The recording keeps refering to the "audio cassette course" that you are listening to. I don't think that this is Dr de Bono narrating, or an actual book. It is incredibly sexist with the use of the male and female voices too. Refund.

What do you think your next listen will be?

anything other than this tripe

Would you be willing to try another one of Dr. Edward de Bono’s performances?

not based on this, no. But then I don't believe this 50's era american male and female voice is Dr de Bono

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

not really. couldn't listen to much of it. It was like listening to sexist dogs barking into a bucket.

Any additional comments?

no. make it stop
