About this listen

Train like Olympic marathoner and 2014 Boston Marathon winner Meb Keflezighi

With his historic win at the 2014 Boston Marathon, Meb Keflezighi cemented his legacy as one of the great champions of long-distance running. Runners everywhere wanted to know how someone two weeks away from his 39th birthday, who had only the 15th best time going into the race, could defeat the best field in Boston Marathon history and become the first American man to win the race in 31 years.

Meb for Mortals describes in unprecedented detail how four-time Olympian Keflezighi prepares to take on the best runners in the world. More importantly, the book shows everyday runners how to implement the training, nutritional, and mental principles that have guided him throughout his long career, which in addition to the 2014 Boston win includes an Olympic silver medal and the 2009 New York City Marathon title.

Better in print - not really an audio book

This is probably much better in print, not a great book for audio. Hard to follow.

Would be better in print, or with pdf

Listeners need to be able to refer back to some content. Should purchase print copy.

Needs .pdf. Need to Buy Hardcopy to Use Info

This book contains a lot of lists and complex physical descriptions of specific training drills that I assume were illustrated in the visual book. Even a visual book would benefit from a video supplement for these complex movements. They were so complex and numerous that I gave up even trying to listen to them in my car and need to buy the hardcopy if I want to implement them.

As always, Meb is inspiring and has beautiful insights into motivation, training, discipline, and perspective that are worth the listen even if the audio format isn't well suited to delivering the book's intended training purpose.

Well narrated.
