A Voice of Reason in a Restless World

In a culture obsessed with doing more and being more, this book is a breath of stillness. The reflections of Marcus Aurelius, delivered so evenly by Michael Donovan, are sharp, honest, and grounding. I listen to this during my commute and arrive with a clearer head every time. It’s not just a classic it’s a tool.

Calm, thoughtful, narrator’s voice is soothing

I’ve listened to a few versions of Meditations, but this one really stood out. The narrator’s voice is super calm and soothing – like someone gently guiding you through the thoughts of Marcus Aurelius. It made the wisdom feel more personal and easier to absorb. I’ve been playing it while walking or before bed, and it honestly helps me reset mentally. If you’re into philosophy, self-improvement, or just want something grounding in your day, this is 100% worth it.

Great audiobook

This version is way better than the virtual narration one that I have bought and it's even cheaper and it's actually one of the best narrations I've heard in a while I do recommend

One of Those Books You Keep Thinking About

Really wasn’t sure what to expect but ended up loving it. Meditations isn’t a big dramatic book — it’s just one guy trying to figure out how to be a good person and stay calm through all the chaos. Some parts really made me stop and think for a while.

Simple Truths

No fancy language just plain, timeless advice. Each passage cuts right to the heart of what matters: kindness, focus, and calm. The honest tone makes me trust these reflections, and I find myself returning to them whenever life feels noisy.

A Masterpiece That Stays With You

Meditations is one of those rare books that feels more like a companion than just a reading experience. Marcus Aurelius' thoughts are simple, powerful, and deeply human — they don't preach; they reflect. It's incredible how words written almost two thousand years ago still feel so personal and relevant today.

Michael Donovan’s narration is spot on. His voice is calm, measured, and reflective — exactly the tone needed for a book like this. It feels like you're sitting with someone wise who's quietly sharing what they've learned about life.

Perfect for Commutes

My drive to work can be noisy and distracting. Playing this on the way helps me arrive ready and calm. The entries are short enough to fit between red lights. I’ve noticed I handle stress better all day.
