About this listen

At the young age of three, while I was at school, my mother was murdered by her abusive new boyfriend. What would happen to her five unintentionally abandoned children?

The heartbreak of the devastating loss of my mother was just the beginning of a series of tragic events that shaped my childhood. Lost in the chaos of abuse, I was the unseen collateral damage of domestic violence. I was forced to take on the role of the invisible child for self-preservation. I figured you can't hurt what you can't see.

Despite all the sadness in this book, my story has a happy ending. Overcoming obstacles that were meant to destroy me taught me many powerful lessons about strength, resilience, and faith. I want to show you that no matter how dark your world seems, there is a light shining right outside the door. You just need to have faith and keep moving forward step by step until you find your peace. Trust me, no matter where your story lies, you can find happiness.

Contains mature themes.

This was a tough read, but a good one. I loved the scripture sprinkled throughout and the focus on her faith that got her through the worst times in her life.

Very detailed personal experience!

It’s good to hear someone’s story, but I have to say , she was so redundant. At times it seemed so patronizing to the reader . I know she was trying to help people, but I just wanted to hear her story more than I wanted to be preached at. And I’m a Christian who also suffered abuse growing up.

Honestly…?

This brought back many memories of my ten year marriage to an abusive man. It reminds me that what I went through is happening throughout the world. There is a good life beyond an abusive relationship, if a person can find the strength to leave and not be killed back. I only wish I had left sooner.

Thank you for sharing your story.

I connected with her as she read her life story. There will be emotions and thoughts that will come up while reading or listening to this book, but she gives support by telling places and people that would benefit someone in the process of healing if you have or are going through issues like this. Thank you for writing this book.

Her strength even during the hardest times

True story of how domestic violence and child abuse affects a family. Very sad and traumatic for those involved. This is how one woman found a way to survive and to tell how her childhood abuse carried on into adulthood and how she saught help. She decided what she was not going to accept in her life anymore. A true heartbreaking ordeal.

Heartbreaking

I appreciate how she encourages the reader to seek therapy and work to become well. Her courage to give God the credit for pulling her through and out of the painful times!

Yes, you will make it through! Hang in there!

I didn’t like hearing that you didn’t report your dad’s friend because you hoped he was too old to continue molesting children. That is absolutely not true.

A lot of just believe in God references.

I wasn’t looking for religion. I forced myself to listen to the first half of the book but skipped to the end just to get it done. If you are looking for scripture then this is for you. I wanted the story only.

Entirely too much religious preaching.
