About this listen

When rancher Bobbie Del Rey walks into the veterinarian’s office with an injured pup, the last person she expects to see is the one woman she’s never allowed herself to love. The only thing more dangerous than the storm raging outside is the tempest in her heart.

Veterinarian Grace Hammond is looking for a fresh start. Haunted by her past, she hopes moving back to her hometown will help her find the strength to stand up for what she needs in matters of the heart. The moment her first love, Bobbie Del Rey, walks into her clinic - tall, dark, and soaking wet - the boundaries Grace desperately needs become paper thin.

Can the heartbreaks of the past ever truly be mended?

Second chance romance on a ranch…

This is a sapphic second chance romance. Grace was sent off to boarding school the moment her parents discovered she was a lesbian. After 20 years, Grace returns to town temporarily and runs into Bobbie. Their connection is still there even after all those years.
This was an interesting book b/c I can’t remember liking a book this much where I mostly disliked one of the main characters.
I felt like Bobbie deserved better than Grace but we love who we love and Bobbie’s sweetness and loyalty never faltered.
For those interested, this book comes with a nice helping of steamy sex scenes with lots of dirty talk. Bobbie & Grace were not lacking in the chemistry department.

Annoying

I thought the storyline was kind of annoying with how they talk about how much they loved each other almost right away but then being wishy washy on getting together.

I also didn’t like the narrators voice of Bobby.

The most disappointing part was the sex scenes. It bordered on gross. All the talking between the characters was annoying and crude. Took away from the actual romance.

Good story, but

the voice used for the main character Bobby was BORING. Seemed every time she "spoke" she ended the sentence with a question mark even when it wasn't. I know the reader could do better because she voiced the other characters. I guess she thinks a hard working rancher is slow talking and slow thinking...just made the book almosr unbearable to listen to. I'll pass books narratorated by McKinney in the future.

Same story line.

I really believed I listened to this before, But I couldn't have , it just came out. Its just to familiar. Maybe it happens once or twice.
But please. Here it is: Oh my I haven't seen you in 50 years. I haven't loved or really had sex, I last saw you when I was
sixteen or seventeen or whatever. Bobby was nerve racking. Grace was like I love you then I'll stay away for a few months,
Then I'll be back and we can have sex. Please lesbians think of something new because listening to this book was so like listening to another one. I've heard it before. And sometimes Paige sounds so robotic.
