About this listen

Each person worked for the same company, Kemco, which has a dicey history of manufacturing deadly chemicals. Coincidence? Journalism student Crane doesn’t think so, especially since one of the dead was his fiancée.

Determined to uncover the truth, Crane teams up with a local environmental activist named Boone, whose ex-husband works for the chemical giant. Together, they aim to expose the town’s corrupt elements and bring Kemco to justice.

But their relentless investigation means that if someone is going to murderous lengths to keep Kemco’s real operations a secret, Crane and Boone just made the top of the hit list.

I’m a big fan of Max Alan Collins especially the audiobooks narrated by Dan John Miller. However this book is mediocre at best. If it was his first novel, before the Mallory series, it would be forgivable. It’s a heavy handed diatribe on the perils of Pollution, capitalism, and the chemical industry etc. it reads more like a Nonfiction account at times. I can only recommend it to those who want a heavy dose of 70s eco-politics or to those who just can’t get enough Mallory.

Lackluster eco-thriller

A really interesting and educational thriller by Max Allan Collins. It has the feel of a Mallory novel. Dan John Miller gives a great performance. If you like the Mallory novels I think you will really enjoy this one.
