About this listen

A deep-state US organization has a top-secret kill list - and a popular senator is on it.

Nathan Stone was killed in action while serving as a covert CIA operative. Or so everyone thought. In reality he’s become a ghost, a black-ops asset with a new identity and controlled by a secret government organization. The Commission has one aim: to hunt down and assassinate anti-establishment enemies of the state.

Its number-one target is Senator Brad Crichton, an ambitious politician with growing support. Stone is ready to take him out, but his plan is soon compromised when the Commission’s kill list is leaked to a journalist - whose own name is on the list too. And when the journalist tries to alert the senator, he is found dead in suspicious circumstances. Stone is closing in on Crichton, but must act swiftly to reach him before the truth does.

He knows that one wrong foot will put him in the firing line. But where national security is at stake, the hunter can quickly become the hunted.

Political thriller

This is a solid 4 star book. The action was from the beginning to the end. If you are lucky enough to buy the narration it is excellent. I took a star off because about a third of the way into the book I kind of got lost a little. I had to backtrack slightly and relisten to it. It wasn’t a big deal but the story is somewhat complicated. The author had a great style.

who is the good guy?

This is a good story and it is well written but who do I root for? There is literally not one likeable character in the whole book. It also has a deeply unsatisfying ending. I kept waiting for something to hapoen to make you want to root for someone but it never came.

Hard to connect with any characters

There isn’t a hero in this book. Everyone is the bad guy and really unlikable. Writing was mediocre. Felt like it was written by an angry teenager who likes to play first person shooter games.

Action!

Have read all three of the American Ghost series twice. This is a very fast read with constant action twists and turns. I could do without the Audible only because it is one toned and I like to read. Unfortunately when I read the novel goes twice as fast! Can't wait to see what "Stone" does next. Would love to see him in the mountains of Georgia or Virginia planning his extermination of The Commission

Good story, Too Much Swearing!

Seriously, can’t you be creative enough to write a thrilling story without swearing? The profanity was excessive! Annoyingly so. I know you write good stories, Mr T…I’ve listened to enough of them. They are good, most of them, when you don’t go to excess with your swearing.

Stone Cold

Gives a glimpse into world of political espionage that gives the reader a ride worth the taking. Stone is ruthless, relentless while proving that love lives in the coldest of hearts in some form.

This story made no sense to me

I have read the Reznik novels so I thought this would be just as awesome. But honestly I had no clue which character to care for or root for. Eventually you're left with Nathan... But he never really has has a Epiphany moment that makes him into a good guys. He is still a stone cold killer at the end of the book.... This is the strangest anti hero book I ever listened to.... I was left very unsatisfied at the end of the book.
