About this listen
Seth Bisen-Hersh’s third book Millennials Are Ruining the World! features 24 humorous essays on the generational divide. Topics include railing against millennials’ solipsistic entitlement, their lack of responsibility and reliability, and their outsized, outrageous outraging. Essays also digress to discuss disturbing technological changes, meditation, Seth’s guide to a healthy relationship, reflections on nearing 40, gratefulness, and more! Additionally, Seth’s cat, Smee, pens his second cat-pter pontificating on how cats are better than millennials. Perfect for all generations - whether they like it or not.

Jenna Fischer's Hollywood journey began at the age of 22 when she moved to Los Angeles from her hometown of St. Louis. She was determined, confident, and ready to work hard. So, what could go wrong? Uh, basically everything. The path to being a professional actor was so much more vast and competitive than she’d imagined. It would be eight long years before she landed her iconic role on The Office, nearly a decade of frustration, rejection, and doubt. If only she’d had a handbook for the aspiring actor. Or, better yet, someone to show her the way. Jenna wants to be that person for you.

When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn't have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave - "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" - wasn't about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because "time is all you have... and you may find one day that you have less than you think").

Franchesca Ramsey didn't set out to be an activist. Or a comedian. Or a commentator on identity, race, and culture, really. But then her YouTube video "What White Girls Say...to Black Girls" went viral. Faced with an avalanche of media requests, fan letters, and hate mail, she had two choices: Jump in and make her voice heard or step back and let others frame the conversation. After a crash course in social justice and more than a few foot-in-mouth moments, she realized she had a talent and passion for breaking down injustice in America in ways that could make people listen and engage.

John Crist wasn’t always recognizable as “the guy from that hilarious video in the grocery store.” Growing up part of a homeschool family of ten in rural Georgia with Mennonite grandparents and a high-school job at Chick-fil-A, he was an unlikely candidate for internet fame. Despite all that, or perhaps because of it, Crist passionately pursued his dream of stand-up comedy. In Delete That, Crist takes responsibility for his actions, offers some reflections on how to do better, and encourages us all to stop capitulating to the fear of “But what will they think?!”

Story
Millions of viewers know and love Bob Saget from his role as the sweetly neurotic father on the smash hit Full House, and as the charming wisecracking host of America's Funniest Home Videos. And then there are the legions of fans who can't get enough of his scatological, out-of-his-mind stand-up routines, comedy specials, and outrageously profane performances in such shows as HBO's Entourage and the hit documentary The Aristocrats.

Story
Until recently Tess Vigeland was a longtime host of public radio's Marketplace. It was a rewarding, high-status job, and Tess was very good at it - but she'd begun to feel restless. Without any definite, clear sense of what she wanted to do next (but an absolute certainty that what she'd been doing was no longer truly satisfying), she walked away from her dream job and into a vast unknown. Suddenly she was no longer " Marketplace's Tess Vigeland"; she was just Tess Vigeland.

Interesting, Irritating & Sometimes Funny Listen
This is an interesting, irritating & eye rolling listen. Interesting due to some of his views, irritating due to a bit too much rambling and funny due to the humor (whether intended or not). I'm an, ahem, older person and found some of what the author rambles about quite humorous. I also found myself agreeing with part of what he says. This book will not be for everyone but there will be those of us who can handle it beginning to end. The narration done by the author is nicely done. This is one of those books that would have suffered if someone else had narrated it. The author is able to tell his ramblings with the tone and emotion he wants to come across.

Lackluster humor
It was difficult for me to get into this book at all. I am not sure I got the humor. It might help if the author had a professional reader. Narration was difficult for me to listen to.

I'm sorry. :(
I tried to finish the book because it did seem funny. And it was, at least for the parts I got to listen to. I LOL-ed a lot because I could relate. (I was born in the early 80s.)
But the narration was very distracting, like forcing yourself to listen to that nerdy cousin everyone else avoids during your family reunion, because you want to be polite and you feel sorry for them. So you sit there and smile though you're dying to leave. I can't get past the first chapter.
I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving my unbiased review.

We all have that friend that we can sit and talk to about anything
That’s what this is like. Listening to this is best done while drinking. I don’t mean that in a bad way...I mean it in the sense that it reminds me
of sitting with friends drinking late into the night and talking about all the things in the world that we enjoy and hate...now take
Out the stuff you enjoy and just make it about the stuff you can’t stand...and make it so that you aren’t responding but just listening to your friend go on and on. That’s what this reminds me of. That being said, like any good friend the filter is off and he speaks his mind regardless of any offense that could be made by what is said. So why not all 5’s? Because there is way too much rambling. I am glad I listened to rather then tried to read this in print. This is meant for audio. It is read by the author which is perfect because the intonations and such are exactly where he wants and how he wants. If you are up for a good late night rant this is the perfect book for you. I enjoyed and hope you do as well. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

I just couldn't continue - I really thought this would be a funny read and I really think it could have been and was meant to be...I even listened to a sample before requesting a copy and thought - hey, this will be a pretty cute read and I'll get some chuckles but I got 1/4 of the way in and I just couldn't do it anymore. It's just not funny, at all. It's a guy who's just ranting about how cheep he is and crappy everything is around him and I swear he said "anyway" all the time! So, anyway...I'm so sorry that I couldn't finish...I'm sure it's a great read / listen for someone out there but not for me...if I feel up to continuing and decide differently, I will update this review.

Millennial-Approved
I love this book, and not only because I am referenced several times throughout. The author, Seth Bisen-Hersh, has a very unique way of crafting his sentences even when talking about how much he hates things. I appreciate the humor in this book; the jokes sometimes come completely out of left field, in the best way. I really enjoyed listening to this book in the car as I drove— it made sitting in traffic FAR more bearable! Excellent job, Seth. Consider it millennial-approved.
