About this listen

Chandler Hendricks hates his life. Socially awkward and a near shut-in, Chandler spends his time caring for his ailing mother and watching the neighbors from his window.

His favorite person to watch is his next-door neighbor Samantha. Young and beautiful, she would be the woman of any man’s dreams. Chandler knows he will make Samantha happy, if she just gave him a chance.

Chandler’s finally ready to make a change and live the life he always wanted…even if it already belongs to someone else.

The neighbor you never want to have. What a frighteningly good story! I found myself wanting Chandler to get away with it, which is CRAZY. This was a great short read, I listened to it on Audible and the narration was subpar but I got used to it so it was fine. Definitely recommend if you want a read in one sitting horror story!

Couldn’t stop listening

Overall i felt it was an intriguing read, however the ending was rushed a bit.

Rushed ending

A neighbor obsessed with a family. So obsessed he goes too far. A young man who's confused with reality because of mental illness. Great story with a surprising ending that caught me off guard.

Not What I Expected

I bought this one because of the reviews promising a crazy twist, I stood by it as the narrator spoke in a monotone voice and I found my self spacing out and having to rewind a few times. when I finally got to the twist I was disappointed, I won't spoil anything but a good twist should make me wanna go back and see the signs I missed but I'm positive I missed nothing. There's better stories about stalkers but for something that is short I can say I had an okay time with Mine.

decent but a little boring

This was an extremely disturbing tale. The author and narrator did an amazing job with this one

Unsettling

Dark obsession mixed with mental illness. Be aware of your neighbors!
Well written and fast paced.
The narration was perfect!

Fear the neighbor

This book was quick paced and didn't slow down one bit. From the first page till the last I was left on the edge of my seat needing to finish. This book made me feel extremely uncomfortable, and I mean that positively.
Rooting for the neighbors as the main character starts to slip into madness.

I give the story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because it was engaging but I feel like the ending was a little too forced and rushed.

Obsession

I randomly came across this title on Goodreads and it peaked my interest though it sounded like maybe I would end up disliking it.

While our main character isn’t the most sympathetic individual (clearly displaying psychopathic behavior and some anti-social tendencies in addition to a disturbing obsession/fixation), I felt some empathy for Chandler who was raised by an abusive distrustful mother (yeah feeling the Ed Gein influence there) and just needed an understanding friend or relative along with copious amounts of psychiatric treatment.

While the death scenes in the story aren’t overtly graphic, they’re still uncomfortable to read/listen to & you sort of cheer two of the deaths since they’re pretty despicable people. However the ending really caught me off-guard as I expected a nasty end for our lead, but the author throws a dark curveball at us that kinda makes me want a follow-up story to see what happened afterwards.

Creepy & Engaging

This definitely took some turns that I was NOT expecting!!!
I think this story was well written and TC King did a great job narrating. The ending was sad and little bit infuriating lol but not quite as infuriating as the ending to Stolen Tongues so I cant be too mad about it lol Plus...there aren't happy endings in horror so it really should have come at no surprise.
I think that LM Kaplin's imagination definitely came up with a scary story that is all too realistic because people do this stuff every day! I mean ....look at the story behind Gypsy Rose lol

Over all a good read.... or ...listen ... I definitely recommend this for people who like the more realistic horrors ...from the POV of the "bad guy" ... people who love the horror where the monster is a person. Definitely worth getting into and its fairly short so it is a one sitting book. ....also....congrats to LM Kaplin on this story making the final 32 in the indie brawl in Books of Horror!!!
