About this listen

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Tired of constantly chasing happiness? Does your life feel cluttered out of control? Enough is enough. It’s about time to reclaim that life that you should be living now!

We work to the point of extreme exhaustion. Everyone is just too rushed, hurried, and stressed. We alleviate our stress by shopping for more stuff, binge eating, and engaging in time-wasting activities. We fill our lives with needless activities, relationships, and clutter. This makes us lose sense of who we really are and what’s important to us.

This is the reason why the Japanese people have developed a lifestyle that strips away the inessential things in their lives. It’s called minimalism. In this audiobook, you’ll hear proven strategies on how to practice minimalism.

Here are just some of the benefits:

  • You will clear your mind, and get rid of physical clutter, increase your happiness, and improve your life
  • Your personal space will be transformed and organized into a clean and neat place
  • You will save money and also make money from the minimalist lifestyle
  • Much, much more!

Great book to listen to while purging

As someone who feels like I'm always decluttering and purging, this was great to listen to during one such session. I'm not really a things person anyway, yet somehow it still accumulates. More so from things that my children were into but no longer use, clothes they no longer wear or grew out of, things needed for projects that now need discarding. If one doesn't stay on top of it, it can get out of hand very fast. Though I can't say I am or want to be a hard core minimalist, it was really helpful while sorting things and asking do I truly need certain things or am I just attached to them, or even should I be. I'm never going to only have 10 items of clothing. Alternating between 2 tops seems tedious and would have me spending WAY more time washing than I want. That's stressful to have to be washing clothes daily just to have something clean to wear the next day unless hygiene just isn't important to you. BUT, everyone has their own way and ideas of what works for them, so I get it. As long as my clothing is functional and useful, I can be happy getting rid of things I no longer wear from time to time. I think the principle of getting rid of the things that don't serve you or bring you joy says it all. If my large, well organized CD collection gives me joy, it's not going anywhere. But, I can certainly go through all the old paints I no longer use and donate them to someone else who is still using them. Nothing really new here, but some nice reminders and helped with the streamlining and purging mood.

I needed this

While this is a hot topic now I appreciated the way this was explained and the help offered to rewire your brain. I'm one of those people whose house looks good, not too cluttered, neat and clean. Unfortunately if you open the drawers or the closets and heaven forbid you go into my garage - well I'm just saying I need help. I am going to try this method and hopefully live in a home that isn't overwhelming. Well written and I enjoyed the narrator. I would absolutely recommend this book.

Brief Overview

This is more of a brief overview of the main points of minimalism. While it is decent, it’s not a specific how-to guide to going full-on minimalist.

No more helter-skelter stuff

At the beginning, I thought it was yet another book retelling Marie kondo's "The life-changing magic of tidying up" which by the way, I found tedious and plain boring. This book, on the other hand, is more down-to-earth and reasonable. Just put on your headphones and start the purge babe!

Great Read!

This was a very good and interesting read for me! I found the tips helpful and something I will continue to do for the rest of my life. There were so many useful tips on how to declutter. It was informative but not boring. I know this is the book I needed to help with my messy house and car. Literally everything can be cleaned up! I loved the narration and I highly recommend this book if you need help with decluttering.

Great self help book!

This is a greatly helpful book of the concept of minimalism. As much as my house feels cluttered, I don't want to live in empty and lonely environment. I liked how it said it was a process and you can choose how much you want to minimize your life. Also, you may revisit the process again if you decide to minimize more. I will be listening again from time to time. Nicely read by the narrator. I was gifted a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Minimalism Was a Great Listen

Minimalism was a good listen for me. I found it helpful as this is something I've been working on doing. This book had a lot of helpful suggestions on ways to declutter. It was informative without being boring. With the help from listening to this audiobook I learned where there are plenty of places to minimize. A lot of things I already do. There was one place in this book I would change though. Rather than throwing away old mail and such I prefer to shred just to be cautious. Otherwise this book was just what I needed though now whenever I walk through my house and see dust or clutter it's going to drive me up the wall.

I really liked the narration by Jeanette Funderburg. She had a mysterious voice that enhanced the book. She was monotone but in a cool way. It was good.

Also at the end there was an exerpt from another audiobook One Meal a Day that I would like to listen to.
