About this listen

Who was she?

In Regency London, a woman escapes from a burning warehouse only to realize she doesn't know her own identity. Although the locket around her neck bears the name Miranda, she has no recollection of her past. Nor does she know why two very different men want her - the devilishly handsome Scotsman, Ian MacVane, and Lord Lucas Chesney, the nobleman who claims to be her betrothed.

In a race against time to discover who she is and which man she can trust, Miranda embarks on a soul-stirring journey that takes her from the dazzling salons of London to the craggy Highlands of Scotland. All of her beliefs - about herself, her world, and the nature of love - are tested to their limits as she seeks the truth about her past and finds an unexpected passion that ignites the hidden fires within....

It was very engaging and well written in my opinion. Highly recommend! Narrator was great!

My first by this author

After having come across Susan Wiggs books only recently, and having enjoyed them both - The Apple Orchard & The Bee keepers Ball - very much, this book then really blew my socks off and was so different. Set in England and Scotland at the time of Bonaparte, the characters and the building of the story have you gripped from the start. The narration by Ashford McNab is top notch. Having strong connections historically and currently with Scotland, I got an extra buzz, as Ashford's production of several Scottish accents really enhanced the reading.
I generally don't bother reviewing audio books that already have a selection of reviews, but as this didn't and because I found this so compelling, I though it time to step up and express my experience!

A Very Excellent Read / Listen!

Just not Wiggs best. Couldn't grasp a bit of romantic excitement, thrills. Just wandered through the expected trope without any engagement. Very disappointing.
