About this listen

Will Ella ever survive the move to Seattle? With her so-hippie parents. In the rain. With no friends, belongings, nada, zip?

Ella Jensen is an old soul stuck in a teenager's body, and she doesn't make friends easily. In her senior year of high school, her family moves across the country to Seattle, turning her already-small world upside down. She feels alone and lost....

But then she finds a box of decades-old love letters between Martha and Frederick; she becomes best friends with her tiny new neighbor, Miss T; and she gets her first kiss from Hans, a very symmetric German exchange student.

But summer ends abruptly when she is forced to make a decision that will change her life. Forever.

A warmhearted and humorous coming-of-age story, Lost in Seattle is a celebration of family, love, friendship, and that special bond between daughters, mothers, and women across generations.

If you love a fast-paced story with snappy dialogue and lots of humor and heart, this is the audiobook for you.

Miss Apple Pants

This book has so much going on, but you will love every second. It brought out so many emotions from me and yet it left me happy in the end but asking for more. I will definitely be looking for the next in this series.

coming of age

The story begins with Ellie and her parents moving cross country to Seattle for her father's new job. Reluctantly uprooted again, Ellie tries to adapt to her new surroundings . The mixup of the Uhaul moving van was hilarious. Her parents stored the unknown owners boxes in the shed, only to open them on a "use as we need them basis. " After Ellie found a mailbox filled with letters in the shed, Ellie, her mom and neighbor,
Mrs. T created book nights to read them. The three became interconnected by reading Martha and Fredricks love letters to each other. A lot of the heartache they experienced in their life, mirrored her parents life. Ellie goes through many challenges , and one decision that will change her life forever.
I love the family dynamic Charlotte Roth created. I could just see how much love everyone has for each other. The banter, humor, sass, between Ellie and her parents is heartfelt. How their unconditional love and forgiveness is important in their relationship.
I thoroughly enjoyed Hope Dorman narration. How she would change from Ellie to Mrs. T, to Mom and dad, was flawless. Giving each character their own personality. 🎧Audiobookobsessionreviewer🎧

A Catchy Coming Of Age Novel

I have read this novel & just finished listening to it. I actually enjoyed listening to it even more than reading. The narrator Hope Dorman did fantastic portraying Ella Jensen's thoughts and inklings. Ella's character's voice enhances envisioning her real life. The pace & tone was smooth and evenly done. Very entertaining to listen to. The narrator did excellent bringing the character's & narrative to life. Looking forward to listening to the next novel when available.

A coming of age story set in 2012 & goes back in time to the eighties in Seattle, WA. A tale of two stories intertwined. One based on thirty year old love letters between Martha & Frederick, the other revolves around seventeen-year-old Ella and her hippie parents. The secondary storyline revolved around love letters is complex, & a intriguing tale intricately weaved into a entertaining storyline. Characters are witty, & one-of-kind. Overall, a sweet, humorous, & heartwarming fun read.

Miss Apple Pants

This was a fun coming of age story. The letters were interesting how close to their reality they were. Did not feel like we got all the answers.

Beautiful

When I first started this book, I thought it was very cheesy. However, I was still intrigued by it as well. The family dynamic was really intriguing. I wondered if it would be enough to keep my attention on this book. It was and then some. What starts out as a seemingly simple story with no real point or conflict at all twists and turns in the most subtle ways possible. It was beautiful and it was sad. The characters were very relatable. I connected with them all. Especially our main character, Elanor. Many of the characters in this book are very obsessed with the Beatles. The main character is actually named in honor of them. I only had one issue with one of the characters in one scene in the book. But I think I took it too personally more than anything. I was very impressed by the narrator. She did a fantastic job with this book. I especially loved her voice for Mrs. T. It was absolutely adorable. I hope that she continues narrating the rest of this series. I don't think I can imagine any other voice for these characters now! I didn't expect to love this book, but love this book I did. It's very emotional and beautiful. It's realistic and a bit of a stretch at the same time. If anybody had a "this could only happen to me moment", it's this family. Hands down. I fully recommend.

Abortion may be a trigger

It was good to listen to another Charlotte Roth story. Her books make me think. My emotions ran amuck, especially during the part addressing infertility and abortions. The book was well written and had great characters with witty conversations. There were few characters. Mom, Dad, Daughter, Neighbor (Mrs. T who was my favorite) and a boy. There were times that I thought how I wish I'd be those parents, and at other times I'd wish they'd be more like parents. But amazing loving patents they were. I loved the story within a story. very well done.

Hope Dorman did an excellent job narrating. Her performance was spot on. She did well with both male and female voices. I hope to hear more books read by her in the future.

My only complaint is there are many errors in the production. My not sure if you can read bookmark notes, but I marked several when I was able.

Just Amazing!

I loved everything about this amazing story. The characters were all fantastic and the storyline was so enthralling it was difficult to put the book down. I laughed and cried so much at some point in this story. There was just so much to like I can’t put my finger on just one thing. Kudos to the author on this amazing book. Hope Dorman also did a wonderful job at portraying each character and giving each a voice. I highly recommend this wonderful book with no hesitation whatsoever.

A pleasantly upbeat, complete series

This was a lovely gem of a story. This audiobook is the complete duet series of the individual books “Lost in Seattle” and “Lost in Love”. At 14 hours long, you really get your money’s worth for the audio credit. I previously listened to the author’s “Dancing Queen”, and I liked that one better, probably because YA books are not my favorite genre. This “Miss Apple Pants” is suitable for older teens and adults. There is some swearing, and an accidental teen pregnancy is a thematic element.

It took me a few chapters before I really got into the story. Then, the characters and the family relationships revealed themselves to be more subtle and complicated than they first appeared. The plot took little, unexpected twists and turns. For a first novel, I am really impressed with the author’s writing ability. I also like the bit of humor throughout.

The narrator does a lovely job. She sounds exactly as I would have imagined 17-year-old Ella would sound. She has a very pleasant voice, and she gives a vivacious, upbeat quality to the story.

I requested and received a free audiobook copy via #AudiobookObsession, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
