About this listen

Baseball wasn't supposed to be a game of life and death.

The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was 17. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six-foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.

I tried to stay away. I couldn't.

Then, the team started losing.

Women started dying.

And everything in my perfect world broke apart.

A favorite Summer Listen

I went into reading Moonshot expecting a baseball romance. What I found was so very much more than that. The story was fun and flirty, an element of forbidden romance, a great mystery that really engaged and kept me turning pages, and through it all a story of Love, real and true and epic.

"Men had been killed over kisses like that. Careers had been lost. Hearts had been stolen."

Amazing story paired with Amazing narration made for a favorite summer listen!!

Reviews are right!!

This book definitely was not a standard romance. You really have no clue how this book will end before you get there. I enjoyed this book.

I would have preferred Book over Audible

I wavered between 3 and 4 stars and ultimately decided to go with 3 for a few different reasons. The first being that I listened to this via Audible instead of actually reading it. In this case, I think I would have preferred to read the actual book. The story is told from different POV's, yet narrated solely by a woman that distracted me by how she read the male voices. Don't get me wrong, overall she did a good job, and I can't quite put my finger on the reason, but I found myself thinking about how weird she would sound instead of listening to the words she was saying. Might just be a personal preference. I wasn't crazy about the short chapters, but once I got in the flow, it didn't bother me as much. I did struggle with the last portion of the book. While I did not correctly guess the killer, I was surprised by it. But, I felt like the reasons made it feel almost a little forced for the sake of mystery. With all that said, I loved Ty and Chase's story. It wasn't always pretty, but their love for each other was sweet, strong and real.

Good Read

I enjoyed this one by Ms. Torre. It’s been a while since I read anything from her. It had its typical suspense, romance, struggle. All the things I’ve love about her writing. It wasn’t predictable who the killer was. I was thinking someone else. I was expecting more sex scenes, but then again, most of the book Ty was a teenager. So I guess it was appropriate. I was mad at Ty when she chose her husband. Good story plot though. It was needed.
I loved the ending. Overall a great read. On to the next one.

A mix of sports romance and murder mystery

Baseball romance fans, this is the book for you. But it is also so much more than a sports romance. This is also a mystery. I guarantee you that you won't be able to figure it out before the author reveals the truth. As a baseball fan myself I loved Ty. She is spunky, independent, strong and the perfect proof that baseball isn't just for the men. And it's no surprise she falls for sexy baseball star Chase. There is more to him than a superstar who likes to party and breaks all the rules. He is just a man running from the pain of his past. Together they are electric! But when they meet life isn't ready for them to live happily ever after. Shoot years ahead. They are both in different phases of their lives but never forgot each other. This is a perfect second chance romance but it's anything but typical. Add in a murder mystery. Just when you think you figured out your feelings for all the characters in this book the author throws in some surprises and I believe your opinions will change just like mine did. I loved this book from beginning to end. I couldn't stop listening. I had to know what was going to happen next! At the end my heart was full but I felt a part of me missing because I had become so attached to these characters. I can't suggest this book enough. Readers will laugh out loud, fall in love, feel heart broken, feel outraged, and swoon over and over again

Good, but not great.

I really, really wanted to love Moonshot. It pains me to write that I didn't. Don't get me wrong, I liked the book but there as just a slight disconnect for me. I liked the characters, the theme, and the narrator. But I didn't love the pace and the book covered two different time periods. Normally, I wouldn't mind this, but I didn't like it here. At times, the pacing was just slow.

Baseball? How about Amaz-balls!?

I haven't read this book, but I have listened to it. Listening to it has made me want to read it as well. Few authors/narrators cause me to want to pick up the book for a second "reading" after having heard it. Samantha Summers did a fantastic job narrating the different characters and helping give the story that extra POP that got my imagination going. I've read a few of Alessandra Torre's books, but this is by far my favorite. She is always throwing curveballs (pun not originally intended, but I am going with it) that make her stories stand out from other authors--this one has been the best so far.
