Great spin

I loved how the story included historical features and characters. Definitely different from others that try to pull it off and fail. The narration was on point and made the characters feel real. I'd love to have another or numerous others, as this world is intriguing.

An interesting approach to lore.

The story was fun and is very much worth listening to. I really enjoyed the take on mythological creatures and they’re existence, although it’s a bit heavy-handed at times. The dialogue gets a little strange a points and some of the writing can be repetitive. The VA is very good. However, I had to get past the accent taking me out of the story that’s set in the states. There are a couple of scenes that warrant a trigger warning. One feels kind of reminiscent of rape and another is focused on torture. Overall a very good read that deserves the time of fans of urban fantasy.

Good story, lovely narration

This is the first I’ve read of this author and the first I’ve heard from this narrator as well. I enjoyed both and look forward to hearing more!

Story: the plotline kept me engaged and interested. I will say that there were moments when I was surprised, and in ways I enjoyed. The story is clearly leaving room for more to come, though this story was complete in itself. I look forward to the next installment.

Narration: Kristina’s narration kept me engaged and in the story. Her German accent was refreshing and while at first I was worried it would be distracting, I actually really enjoyed it. Also, she does a great job with her characters, some of whom have genuine sounding southwestern accents. She strikes a good balance between emotion and objective narration, sounding engaging while not going to far into ‘performing’. I look forward to hearing more from this narrator!

Amazing story!

This is such an incredible story! It’s a new twist on the creatures of mythology and beasts of nightmares, set in the modern day. With such a diverse cast of characters, ranging from werewolves and vampires to dragons and gods, and with so many different arcs in motion; I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series. An incredible achievement. It’s hard to believe that this is the author’s first book.

Recommend

In this day, it’s so hard to create anything truly unique, but Heather Ashbury delivers and makes it happen! This book introduces you to a fantastic world where you meet creatures you’re already familiar with, but they are imagined so differently that it’s a breath of fresh air from the same old story. Will buy the sequels when released.

More than Human

If you love phenomenally written books that contain werewolves, vampires, Gods and other deities you will absolutely love this book. This book is entertaining, thrilling and full of action. The storyline is as unique and the characters are well developed. I was hooked from the first chapter and could not stop listening to find out who were the villains and what plans had he/she put into action. Kristina Rothe did an amazing job as narrator. I highly recommend this book.
I received this book for free at my request but it has no bearing on my honest unbiased review that I am freely giving here.

Unique Combination

Returning to a small town in New Mexico for her friend’s funeral, Jule reconnects with a few of her friends. It is at this point the adventure begins and secrets are revealed. For Jule, her world changes drastically and the process of accepting her new life begins.

The author, Heather Ashbury carefully weaves a magical story consisting of gods, angels, werewolves, werebears, demons, and more. Weaving in so many different characters – mystical, mythical, and more was well done and unique. Ashbury took her time to build the characters and their connections. The story flowed smoothly and without flaws. The imagery was rich and vivid.

The narrator, Kristina Rothe delivers a remarkable performance capturing each character’s personality perfectly and projecting it to her audience accurately. She speaks clearly with a solid steady rhythm that is both soothing and engaging.
The combining of the different creatures/beings was fresh and unique making the story highly enjoyable. I hope to hear the next one.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook, it was well done.

Excellent book!!

While this is not typically my genre of book, I decided to give it a try based on a recommendation and I am VERY glad that I did. The story is “page-turning” (I found myself doing extra chores around the house as an excuse to keep listening). It’s well written and Kristina Rothe does an excellent job narrating.

Great first book!

A very interesting story about the supernatural. Particularly werewolves. The action stayed steady not alot of boring parts. The audio book was also solid. The narrator did a good job with different characters. Especially the grandma voice.. If you know then you know.. lol. Overall not a bad read. Can't wait to read the second book!
