Publisher's summary

In the third novel in Karen MacInerney's madcap series, murder proves a welcome distraction to the zany adventures and quirky characters in PI Margie Peterson's life.

Private investigator/single mom Margie Peterson barely has time for breakfast, let alone to hit the gym. But when Austin Heights PTA president Pansy Parker hires her to find out who's been embezzling PTA funds, that's exactly where Margie ends up...finding Pansy dangling upside down from a Nautilus machine. But the PTA president's not alone: the dead body of a personal trainer is there, too. And now she's facing murder charges.

To find out what really happened, Margie goes undercover as a Brazilian body waxer and an energy drink bottler. What she discovers stinks worse than a pair of sweaty gym socks.

But that's not all. Margie's husband is living with his Madonna-impersonating boyfriend; her boss keeps setting her up on disastrous dates, including one with a vengeful sock puppet named Marshmallow; her daughter's fry phone is being held hostage; and her pet piglet, Twinkles, ran off after a sausage-smuggling streaker.

Can Margie pull out the big guns to find the real killer, save the fry phone, and recover Twinkles - before it's too late?

Full of laughs

Would you listen to Mother's Little Helper again? Why?

I enjoy these stories of Margie Peterson and all the problems she gets into.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Margie of course!

What about Cris Dukehart’s performance did you like?

It was good..

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Laugh out loud moment when you here the part about the flasher and his sausage.

Any additional comments?

I recently found the author and have now read/listened to her series Dewberry Farms and now this one...I am wanting for more...

Good

Good ending to the series. Margie’s life may be a mess but in the end family is what matters

Please write more in this series!

Okay, it took a little time to get used to the narrator, but I adjusted easily enough.
The story is full of whimsy and humor. Plus a nice story story line, with plenty of action! What’s not to love?

a lottle too much like the first books.

If you've read the first two books I'd skip this one . The main character, Margie, is supposed to be fairly smart but makes the same mistakes over and over. Her mother and mother-in-law are stereotypes and don't have common sense. I find that frustrating.
The reader is great though and it is a funny book and a light mystery. But like most jokes, they get old after they have been told before.

A fun murder mystery

Our PI is still trying to find her footing and survive motherhood while recovering from her husbands leaving her for a transvestite. Lots of laughs at the many foibles of being a mom.

Not as good as the first two

Part of the problem is the narrator changed the pronunciation of the main character's name, which was kind of distracting.

One would also think that Margie would have learned her lesson about moving dead bodies.

Can you like a book and hate the characters?

I like it overall, but for crying out loud, leave the fry phone at home! Also, Peaches is not a good helper. She seems to cause more trouble than she helps with. And finally, the women in Austin Heights are horrible people. Other than that, not too bad. :)

Crude

The first 2 books were cute but this one is raunchy. I didn't bother reading past the first chapter.
