Publisher's summary

A woman on the run. A wounded SEAL who wants to become invisible.

Two strangers, one mountain cabin.

The sole witness to a murder, stuntwoman Rachel Denning thought she’d found the perfect hideout in a remote cabin just outside Asheville, North Carolina. Until a strange man appears in her bedroom. After a few terrifying moments, she realizes it’s a mix-up - he’s not there to kill her - and Rachel finds herself with an unexpected protector in the form of a navy SEAL.

Dallas Manning is just trying to recover. After being rescued from the Taliban, he’s on extended leave. Finding his mountain retreat occupied by a gorgeous knife-wielding stranger isn’t part of his recovery plan, and neither is training dogs. But an old friend enlists him to help train service dogs for veterans, and Dallas recognizes himself in Bella, a dog rescued from a bad situation.

All Dallas wants is to be left alone, so he can get his head straight, but Rachel stirs his protective instincts. Being trapped together makes it impossible to ignore their growing attraction, but neither of them can outrun their pasts. They’ll have to find a way forward together or risk losing it all.

Love the military stories.

This series was wonderful. The idea of helping military families recover from the trials of war. I loved it all.

Another great one by Sandra Owens!

I enjoyed it all, from the beginning, "This is Audible" to the end, "Audible hopes you enjoyed this program" and everything in between. Sandra knocked it out of the park again. I loved this entire series but this one was extra special to me for the references to starting a horse therapy program as I am personally working to do. I like how trust between both characters developed naturally, how the rescue dog was brought in to help all of them, and of course the happily ever after. Patrick Zeller as a narrator brought the story to life.

Mountain Rescue

I really enjoyed this series of stories about combat veterans. The stories are not slow moving and have the right. touch of romance.

Great story, not my favorite narration

I loved the story, I just wish there was a different narrator. This one sounded like Dumbledore when he’s trying to quiet down the students in the great hall. Very “wrinkly old wizard” and not “hot wounded Navy Seal.” And of course I always recommend having a male and female narrator when the story is told from dual POV.

the cowboy and his wildcat

A cowboy SEAL - swoon! Loved the relationship between Dallas (a wounded warrior) and Rachel (running after witnessing a murder). They were fun together, not to mention the very cute nicknames they gave each other, and had great chemistry. I also enjoyed the suspense plotline, fast-paced and held my attention throughout the story.

Also in this story was a very sweet traumatized dog, Bella (and her kitten)- love.

Reads fine as a standalone (but you will probably want to go back for the other 2).

Patrick Zeller did a good job with the narration. A very enjoyable listen.
