Baskerville Book Reviews

Despite being a fan of vampire stories, I wouldn’t say I was super well-versed in them. At one point early on, Lost Boys are brought up. My only experience with it (aside from hearing the name every time vampires are brought up) is having previously watched the movie Lost Boys: The Tribe.

This story felt like a young adult retelling of Lost Boys: The Tribe. It was a bit predictable at times, though it also had twists that took me by surprise. The story was engaging, the love scene(s) were well done. I liked the characters. I think it was a little short, for the amount of setup it does. It feels like there’s a lot of build-up to a greater story, only for it to abruptly end.

I really don’t have anything to say about the narration. I kinda forgot it was even an audiobook which is usually a good thing. Nothing took me out of the moment while I was enjoying the story.

NOTE: This copy was provided to me free of charge as a digital review copy. The opinions stated in this review are mine and mine alone, I was not paid or requested to give this book a certain rating, suggestion, or approval.

The bloodlust

It is hard to write a vampire tale and be original while trying to stay mostly true to the lore. Briana Morgan tells a good story in this short book but it isn’t very original. That is not a bad thing because MDoA is still entertaining.
Callie and Ramsay have formed a tight bond after the death of their sister but will that be enough when things start getting messy? Who to trust is always in question and you may have eternity to think about it if you make the wrong decision.
This felt a little bit like a YA book except for a steamy sexy scene that had me blushing.

Love letter to The Lost Boys

Mouth Full of Ashes tips its hand pretty early as a love letter to The Lost Boys. This was enjoyable but by sticking so close to its influence some of the reveals and plot points don't come as a surprise. If you love The Lost Boys you'll like Mouth Full of Ashes.
