Publisher's summary

A young woman in need of a transformation finds herself in touch with the animal inside in this gripping, incisive USA Today bestselling novel from the author of Cackle and The Return.

Rory Morris isn’t thrilled to be moving back to her hometown, even if it is temporary. There are bad memories there. But her twin sister, Scarlett, is pregnant, estranged from the baby’s father, and needs support, so Rory returns to the place she thought she’d put in her rearview. After a night out at a bar where she runs into Ian, an old almost-flame, she hits a large animal with her car. And when she gets out to investigate, she’s attacked.

Rory survives, miraculously, but life begins to look and feel different. She’s unnaturally strong, with an aversion to silver—and suddenly the moon has her in its thrall. She’s changing into someone else—something else, maybe even a monster. But does that mean she’s putting those close to her in danger? Or is embracing the wildness inside of her the key to acceptance?

This darkly comedic love story is a brilliantly layered portrait of trauma, rage, and vulnerability.

Critic reviews

"Such Sharp Teeth is wonderfully witty and wild. It's also heady and daring in how the story explores friend and family dynamics, the anger women aren't allowed to express within our culture, and the wounds that transform us against our will. The next full moon I see, I'll be rooting for Rory."–Paul Tremblay, author of The Cabin at the End of the World and The Pallbearers Club

“Rachel Harrison’s razor sharp prose cuts straight to the bone. With its quick-witted dialogue and acutely human regard for its cursed characters, Such Sharp Teeth solidifies her spot as the alpha author of heartfelt horror. Never has a novel made me feel more like a chew toy and I loved every nibble of it.”–Clay McLeod Chapman, author of Ghost Eaters

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

This book had me hooked from start to finish. I would strongly recommend it! Would say it’s a nice mix of horror and dark humor.

Werewolf Love Story

This was a different read for me, and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the parallels between the sisters circumstances, although I thought it was a little much to compare being a werewolf to being a woman.... but overall, it was a fun read, good characters, and had some lovely turns of phrases by the author.

Another hit from Harris

A fun an interesting take on the werewolf sub genre. The main character, Rory battles with becoming a werewolf and maintaining relationships in the process. While this story is more lighthearted than horror, I enjoyed Harris' witty humor and writing style.

Horror mixed with some romance works for me

I don't think this is a surprise, but I loved this. I enjoyed this one even more than "Cackle." It's not often you get to read a feminist werewolf origin story that explores female anger, romance and family drama. I felt that the balance between all of that was done very well. Though I will say, I was a bit surprised with how much romance was in this as it's classified as horror. But apparently horror mixed with a decent helping of romance works for me.

Rory was such a great character to follow and I was rooting for her the entire time. I loved her relationship with her twin sister and how her transformation into a werewolf was paralleled with her sister's pregnancy. The theme of losing control over one's own body was done very well.

I really do wish I had read this before Halloween. It's such a perfect book for the Halloween season.

Rachel Harrison is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors to read, especially for the fall. Her recent releases have touched on witches and now werewolves. There is a part of me that desperately wants her next book to be about vampires. I guess I will have to wait and see. Regardless of what it's about, I'll definitely be picking it up the second it hits the shelves.

Parallels of change

Rachel Harrison cleverly disguises a novel about changing into a werewolf and learning to live with the outcomes, in order to show the difficult changes the female characters have to go through to choose their futures and leave the past behind.

Awesome

An awesome werewolf novel that also deals with the complexity of human relationships. The narration is great and the story is even better.
