About this listen

When a celebrity chef is found dead, Samantha Barnes, the "Cape Cod Foodie", finds her search for the world's best blueberry buckle turning into a search for a killer.

The Fourth of July is coming, and for professional food lover Samantha Barnes, it’s all about the picnic. Okay, and the fireworks. And the parade. But mostly the picnic. What could be better than a DIY clambake followed by the best blueberry buckle in the world? Sam has finally found the perfect recipe in the kitchen of Clara Foster, famed cookbook author and retired restaurateur, and she’s thrilled when Clara agrees to a buckle baking lesson.

But when Clara dies in a house fire blamed on carelessness in the kitchen, Sam doesn’t believe it. Unfortunately, her doubts set in motion an investigation pointing to the new owner of Clara’s legendary restaurant—and a cousin of Sam’s harbormaster boyfriend. So, in between researching the Cape’s best lobster rolls and planning her clambake, Sam needs to find Clara's killer before the fireworks really start....

This smart, witty installment in the Cape Code Foodie series is a complete delight. With charming, quirky characters that I've come to know and love, twists and turns galore, a setting that is a love story to the Cape, and culinary tips that have me reaching for a pen and paper, this novel has it all. My favorite book of the summer. Highly recommend. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

Once again, Samantha finds herself investigating what may or may not be arson that resulted in what may or may not be murder. Sam's imaginatiin is in overdrive, but that isn't entirely a bad thing. In the midst of it all she may just make an unexpected friend, and she may gain some clarity on her relationship with Jason who accepted an assignment on the west coast. There is a lot going on, and it all adds up to a great read. Of course, now I cannot wait for the next book.

Another Winner

This was a good story. I liked that it was easy to follow and had good character development. At times I got frustrated with the main characters naïveté and “good girl” personality. She was saccharine sweet and it got annoying. Love the destination/location and descriptions of the area. A good vacation book.

Not as good as the first book

My first book in this series and by this narrator and I found it excellent. Now I’m anxious to listen to book #2.

Enjoyable

Samantha Barnes is prepping for summer and the 4th of July by looking for the best blueberry buckle. She interviews a chef, Clara, as part of her Cape Cod Foodie work. The next day Clara is dead after a house fire. The fire wasn’t an accident and Sam goes looking for answers. The culprit wasn’t among the easily identified suspects.
The delights of Cape Cod, friendship and love are a large part of the book.
I think I may like Murder is No Picnic best of the Cape Cod Foodie mysteries.
I liked the narrator.

This series had it all… charm, fun & mystery! The books took me right to the Cape and I became totally immersed. The characters were well developed and light hearted as well as the mysteries. Different than other murder mystery books. I definitely hope there will be more! The narration was fabulous as well.

Delightful and Enchanting
