Publisher's summary

After traveling to Bethesda for a mystery writers’ conference, Jessica Fletcher decides she’s earned a vacation and takes a train to Columbia, South Carolina, to visit her old college friend Dolores, who has recently married her third husband, Willis Nickens, a wealthy and cutthroat businessman. They’ve moved into an opulent historic home with plenty of space for guests, and Jessica is ready for a week of shopping, gossiping, and relaxing at the grand estate.

But the morning after she arrives, Jessica discovers Willis facedown in the koi pond, and despite what the police think, she’s sure foul play is involved. She hadn’t known Willis long, but it’s clear to her that he didn’t concern himself with making friends. The question isn’t if her friend’s husband was murdered but by whom.

Fishy Tail.

Good story. Lots of characters could be the murderer of the weather businessmanwho was both a caring husband to his second wife,Jessica friend and hard CEO at his one man directed company. Why did Norman die in the Koi Pond? Only his family, along with his partner , several friends who need financial help were on the estate. After his wife is suspected Jessica and Harry McGraw delve into the case to prove her Innocence.

Outstanding book

Terrie Farley Moran has absolutely captured Jessica Fletcher in this the first book she has written in this well-loved series. The story is touching, cozy, and complex. I’m sure Angela Lansbury would have been proud to star in a production of this book. Well done, Terrie.

Much better than Jon Land!

So much better than Jon Land's attempts to capture Jessica Fletcher. Not quite as good as Donald Bain but much closer to hjs style. Very relieved to have Jessica Fletcher back! Recommended!

Great book

Great story. Best book in recent years! Narrator is well suited to play Jessica Fletcher. I can’t wait for the next one.

I finally solved a mystery.

MSW books and the show have a habit of going off the rails. This one I was actually able to solve it along with Jessica. I will miss Jon Land’s take but I have to say I enjoyed this book. Jessica is a bit watered down compared to the last 3 books I read in the series but it is a cozy mystery. I have already preordered the next in the series.

interesting

I enjoyed the old author of this series. The original author was the best. The second was ok. Now the Third ... well this was not as captivating . There was no Scotland Yard love interest mentioned. Some ideas were two repetitive. The constant talk and description of her jogging. idk I just want to go back to the old direction of the series and also bring ba k the old person that portrayed Jessica. I believe her name is Cynthia Darlow.

I can't... I just can't

I have been trying to finish this audiobook since the relasse date. By Chapter 2, I had lost count of the number of times my eyes rolled so far back that I was endangering my fellow commuters. I cringe at the stilted and amateurish dialog - real people use contractions in everyday speech! The descriptions of clothes are detailed, but people themselves are barely described at all. The action is laughable - the new-yet-old widow dashing and charging hither and yon kept me cursing Roget and his thesaurus. Let them walk! Jessica is okay, but maybe that's more reader than writer. The plot is not gripping - or I wouldn't lose track of the story because I keep changing it in my head so that Jeseica's spoiled, selfish, stupid friend gets (a) murdered, too; (b) convicted of her horrible husband's murder and sent to death row: and/or (c) run over by a long freight train and dragged for miles (sorry, but she is just awful). it is not believable that JB Flrtcher would be dear friends with anyone so egocentric that it doesn't bother her that her husband abuses people she is supposed to like, who can't get it through her thick head that he has been murdered and she is the prime suspect, and whose first reaction to her spouse's death is "but *I* was finally happy!" Frankly, my dear Jessica, for the first time ever, I just don't give a d... whodunnit. And I LOVE Jessica Fletcher. Where is the editor? Is there an editor? The main character is a famous writer... but the writing is terrible (so at least there's irony, I guess). i cancelled my preorder of the next book, and you can stick a fork in me, because after this tripe, I'm done.

I think Audible and the publisher would be better served by releasing audio of the remaining Donald Bain/Jessica Fletcher books than paying an amateur to write new and terrible books guaranteed to kill the franchise.
