Publisher's summary

Something sinister is going on in the neonatal intensive care unit of a prominent Boston hospital. When Joyce Lattimer begins caring for the infants there, she discovers that someone is murdering them. She and her friend, Nancy, uncover evidence showing that Martha Ryan is probably responsible for the deaths of at least 20 infants. The hospital administrators refuse to believe that one of their own would do such a horrible thing and their solution is to upgrade the NICU to all RNs which removes Martha, who is an LPN, from the unit. Martha is moved to the pediatric unit where she continues to create problems. Dissatisfied with their solution, Joyce continues to probe for the truth only to begin receiving threats to her family and friends.Trying to protect those she loves and the children at the hospital becomes her obsession and her downfall.

I didn't see that one coming

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book. Although slow to start, the story gained momentum and grew in suspense. I was on the edge of my seat until the end. The author keeps us guessing who the killer is throughout the book. I didn't know from one chapter to the next if she was going to introduce another suspect.

Have you listened to any of Lori J. Moran’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. This was my first by her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the growing romance between Joyce and James. It was sweet and proper. We don't see that too often anymore.

Any additional comments?

I loved the overall story, and the compassion Joyce shows toward her patients, and her determination to stop the killer. This is my second book by Sandra Olson I've listened to, and while I felt it could have a stronger start, the second half of the book captured me. I'm glad I continued listening.

sicko psycho

Dark and twisted and difficult to listen to at times due to the innocent nature of the victims- babies!!! I knew something psychological was taking place from the prologue, because of the way things were stated, but I didn't know what. This is soulshattering, gutwrenching, and deeply disturbing but I needed to know more. Well done. I finished this feeling very affected by it. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

This was a really good book!It had romance, suspense and a satisfying ending.Lori J Moran was the perfect narrator.Joyce is a nurse in the NICU where she sees things happening that other people don't believe. She confronts and reports the other nurse but she gets in trouble. This nurse is killing babies, then other nurses and Joyce is her main target.I was given this book by the author, narrator or publisher free of charge.

Murder by Proxy

This book about a hospital and their staff was a clean mystery book. It held my attention and kept me wondering about what was happening.

Boring, way too slow

I did not enjoy this book, It was boring with all the nursing stuff that meant nothing, and it was going nowhere fast.
The overall story is a good idea, and could have been a great thriller, but there was so much fluff and nonsense in the book, that it was actually very boring. The narrator was not good.
