Publisher's summary
Murder is brewing.
While Beatrice Knight Timmons is part witch, the only thing she's interested in nowadays is tea, and copious amounts of it. But that's not all that's brewing. No sooner does she open her very own tearoom and shop in the small town of Nairobi than someone with a vendetta against young brides murders one and leaves the body in the Cozy Tea Shoppe. With her best friend's wedding only weeks away, can Miss Knight stop the murderer while making sure her next order of tea leaves arrives in time?
Murder for Tea is the first case in the Cozy Tea Shoppe Mystery series, the delicious sequel to the Society for Paranormals series. Join semiretired paranormal detective Miss Knight as she attempts to keep the kettle boiling and her customers satisfied (or at least alive) while dodging murder, mayhem, and other inconveniences. Serving tea has never been more dangerous.

The Earl of Wrexford possesses a brilliant scientific mind, but boredom and pride lead him to reckless behavior. He does not suffer fools gladly. So when pompous, pious Reverend Josiah Holworthy publicly condemns him for debauchery, Wrexford unsheathes his rapier-sharp wit and strikes back. As their war of words escalates, London's most popular satirical cartoonist, A. J. Quill, skewers them both.

Story
Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius who uses the gift of deduction and reason to solve the most vexing of crimes. Warlock Holmes, however, is an idiot. A good man, perhaps; a font of arcane power, certainly. But he’s brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn’t deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only things he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart flatmate. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety...

Story
In the sleepy Bavarian town of Gesternstadt, gossip was viewed by many as a local sport, a popular hobby, a harmless pastime that showed only the depth and enduring nature of the interest of one neighbour for another. In Gretel’s opinion, however, tittle-tattle sowed the seeds of malice among the fertile soil of jealousy, often watered by the tears of its victims. So it was that upon hearing from brother Hans of the whispers concerning a young woman, a married man and a thwarted lover, Gretel is compelled to rise from her beloved day bed to set things to rights.

Story
After a tornado rips through her town, store owner Abigail comes across a piece of fabric from a wedding dress among the devastation. Abigail is moved to start collecting other swatches of fabric she finds - her neighbor’s kitchen curtains, a man’s necktie, a dog’s bed - which she stashes in shopping bags. As she pursues her seemingly absurd quest, horrible realities spark the question, “What kind of a God would allow such tragedy?”

Story
Galleries of Stone introduces a world where magical mountains are entrusted to master sculptors like Freydolf. Necessity drives this recluse from the Statuary to find a new servant. The villagers thereabouts fear him, but when people are poor, and homes are crowded, all it takes is a handful of coins to loosen family ties. Tupper Meadowsweet isn’t the cleverest child, but he’s brave enough to follow Freydolf onto the gray mountain, where the Statuary’s living masterpieces hint at faraway lands, diverse races, unique customs, long histories, and danger.

Story
Amelia Peabody embarks on her first Egyptian adventure armed with unshakable self-confidence, a journal for her thoughts, and, of course, a sturdy umbrella. On her way, she rescues Evelyn Barton-Forbes, who has been "ruined" and abandoned on the streets of Rome by her lover. With a typical disregard for convention, Amelia promptly hires her fellow countrywoman as a companion and takes her to Cairo, where strange visitations and a botched kidnapping convince Amelia that there is a plot afoot to harm Evelyn.

What fun!
paranormal, shifters, vampire, magic, murder, mystery, history-and-culture, Africa, humor, ghosts
What fun! Yes, it is a murder mystery, but it is so much more! You don't need to have read any other books by this author to thoroughly enjoy this one, but I'll bet that you will want to. I don't want to revisit the publisher's blurb nor do the spoiler thing, but I think anybody will enjoy all of the interesting characters and the uncommon setting of the rural town of Nairobi at the turn of the last century. The dialog had me snurfling my caffeine! There is a bit of sadness here and there, but it is still one of the best escape reads available.
Alison Larkin gives a marvelous performance as audio interpreter leaving no doubt as to which character is speaking.

I absolutely loved this book. The characters were funny and interesting. Alison Larkin did an outstanding job as well. I wish the rest of the series would come out on audio!
