About this listen

The hilarious, heartwarming new novel from #1 internationally bestselling author Marian Keyes.

Anna has just lost her taste for the Big Apple . . .

Anna has a life to envy. An apartment in New York. A well-meaning (too well-meaning?) partner. And a high-flying job in beauty PR. Who wouldn't want all that? Anna, it turns out.

Turning a minor mid-life crisis into a major life event , she switches the skyscrapers of Manhattan for the tiny Irish town of Maumtully (population 1,217), helping old friends Brigit and Colm set up a luxury coastal retreat.

Tougher than it sounds. Newsflash: the locals hate the idea. So much so, there have been threats—and violence.

Anna, however, worked in the beauty industry. There's no ugliness she hasn't seen. No wrinkle she can't smooth over.

There's just one fly in the ointment: old flame Joey Armstrong. He's going to be her wingman. Never mind their checkered history. Never mind what might have been.
Because no matter how far you go, your mistakes will still be waiting for you.

Critic reviews

"Keyes is a powerhouse. My Favorite Mistake is not just a fizzy romantic comedy, but also a piece of social commentary. Her protagonist’s voice is crystal cut with observations about gentrification, sexism and an economic system that tells women they are nothing without expensive serums and Peleton machines."The Sunday Times

"Warm-hearted and deftly plotted page-turner. A celebration of kindness: that of family and friends."Sunday Telegraph

]"You are all in for a treat. My Favorite Mistake is by turns hilarious and heart-breaking, with a very satisfying mystery at the heart of it too."—Elly Griffiths, author of The Last Remains and The Great Deceiver

Marian Keyes has done it again. A fantastic tale of the Walsh sisters, this one focusing on the shy Anna. This delightful read is fun, thoughtful and borderline serious. You can't go wrong with choosing this for a vacation or book club pick. If you haven't read the others in the Walsh saga then you are missing out!

She, reading her own work, is priceless. Emphasis where intended drives the story perfectly.

I loved the evolution of the characters. Human and each with their own identity and growth pattern. As the story unfolds it connects how the past forms the future and is told with an incredible understanding of how different we all are and how every person is on their own journey. The beauty lies in where we connect and disconnect, and connect again.

Fantastically relatable.
