About this listen

Nothing sucks more than fake dating a vampire in this paranormal romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of My Roommate Is a Vampire.

Amelia Collins is by definition successful. She would even go so far as to say successfully single. But not according to her family, and she's tired of the constant questions about her nonexistent dating life. When an invitation to yet another family wedding arrives, she decides to get everyone off her back once and for all by finding someone—anyone—to pose as her date.

After a chance encounter with Reginald Cleaves, Amelia decides he's perfect for her purposes. He's a bit strange, but that’s fine; it'll discourage tough questions from her family. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that he's very handsome.) For centuries-old vampire Reggie, posing as her plus-one sounds like the ultimate fun. And if it helps his ruse of pretending to be human, so much the better.

As Amelia and Reggie practice their fauxmance, it becomes clear that Reggie is as loyal to her as the day is long, and that Amelia’s first impressions could not have been more wrong. Suddenly, being in a real relationship with Reggie sounds pretty fang-tastic.

Critic reviews

“Jenna writes perfectly escapist paranormal delights!”—Sarah Adams, New York Times bestselling author

"My Vampire Plus-One is a funny, sexy romp that will bust you out of any slump, reading or otherwise!"—Hannah Whitten, New York Times bestselling author of The Hemlock Queen

"Jenna Levine does it again! My Vampire Plus-One is a hilarious, steamy, and heartwarming masterclass on the paranormal rom-com genre. It's also very weird in that it makes tax law kinda sexy. Reginald and Amelia are the cutest couple ever; their swoon-worthy chemistry and Levine's lightning-quick wit will stay with the reader long after the last page has been turned."—Thea Guanzon, New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars

All the tax talk.

It was an ok book. The tax stuff had me cracking up. I don’t want to spoil anything but the show down with the Collective cracked me up.

Cute vampire romance

I enjoyed this tale. It felt like a spicy Hallmark movie. Which is a good thing!

Adequate sequel

While I prefer the first My Vampire book, this one didn’t give me the same fun feel. It felt a bit more like a Hallmark sequel - a bit overdone, washed down and TOO predictable.

That epilogue had me swooning

I wish his voice was sexier but at the same time it was just right. It was a SLOW burn but that ending had me giving heart eye emojis!

Fun and in love

I loved this book! From the way the characters were introduced to them falling head over heels for each other. Career driven Amelia wanting nothing to do with love or anything else to fall in love with Reggie. Reggie was fun, eccentric, and just the opposite of her. The hopeless romantic in me cheered them on, because fun and in love is always better!

Better then the first book

I love Amelia and Reggie’s relationship. It feels more realistic and has that feeling of fantasy and romance early 2000s used to have. Please I need more of these two together!

MMC is so gloriously weird

I know I found the previous book a nice sweet romance, but I don’t remember much from it, including this book’s MMC Reginald (Reggie). I don’t think that’s likely to happen this time. Reggie is just so weird, sweet, and emotionally vulnerable it’s hard not to love him.

I guess it was natural for his “straight-man,” aka love interest, to be an accountant but representation is always nice, even if it’s literary shorthand for “this person is boring/repressed/practical/choose your own dull personality type.”

I think my only complaint might be that Reggie’s origins are kind of teased but never explained and that’s unfortunate because it feels like some of his emotional vulnerability stems from that past. The reader likely knows why Amelia loves Reggie, but the story doesn’t make a great case for why Reggie loves Amelia except that he thinks to himself early in the story that he loves how organized accountants are. I think the author missed a chance to build on why Reggie needs that sense of stability from a partner to give us a chance to love Amelia too, but ultimately romances aren’t typically known for their complexity. This was a fun, sweet romance novel with light spice.

Adorable

Listening to this story made me smile often. I laughed so hard my husband recorded me...twice. Once made me literally pee in my pants. So would I recommend this to people I would say yes.
