Absolute help
I absolutely wish I listened to this book many years ago so I would have seen what was happening in my relationship. I knew early on that something was wrong, but like so many other recipients, I was repeatedly told it was my fault that we had problems and I came to believe that, as so many do. This book would have cleared that up for me and probably made an early exit from the relationship possible. Now I am struggling to heal emotionally and preparing for a future without this person. I am feeling much stronger after listening to this book. Definitely recommend it!

One of the best books
This is by far one of the best books that I have had on the topic of emotional abuse. This book happened to land in my hands at a crucial time. I am in a psychologically abusive marriage where I am now going through a divorce. I needed something that could help me through this journey most of all I needed someone to tell me what I had walked through was not my fault or that I was crazy. I also needed a bigger understanding about what I was dealing with. This book has become a healing balm on this journey of mine to healing and wholeness.

Informational.
In general, I think this book is a helpful listen, with a few obvious flaws. I'm glad that it doesn't demonize abusers, and I like it because it focuses on healing steps for both parties. It was more informational for me than anything else, and I'm glad I got it.

This book helped me to understand that he wasn't trying to understand me. He wanted to win. That had never occurred to me, not even once! I had already gotten out of the relationship, but was still frustrated by the fact that I had worked so hard but been unable to "get along" with someone I loved so much. Now I understand. I'm grateful to this book.

This book helped me to recognize others who have been verbally abusive, yet I did not realize how damaging they were to me. Now I am not able to tolerate the abuse as easily. I know too much to stay in toxic relationships as long as I did before.

After listening to this book, I just knew that I had to leave. I knew the verbal and emotional abuse were going to get worse and worse. I was so afraid for my mental and physical health especially after being on the receiving end of a month-long episode of all the different types of abuse as described. It's all about power and control, and anyone who stays in this type of relationship will never get any of their needs met. They don't want you to have ANY needs, wants or desires. This book is a must have!

I should have known this book before!
I NEVER thought I would end up in a relationship like this, and I wish I had known about this book and recognized it sooner. I know now what to look out for, and also will be able to help a friend or two along the way to recognize their partners abusive tendencies. This is a MUST LISTEN. Priscilla really has helped me reevalutate my life and move forward without looking back in agony, but instead, looking into the future with hope and more realistic ways to react to irrational behavior.
