About this listen

The exciting sequel to Good Intentions! Alex Carlisle has enough to deal with even on quiet days. Living with an angel and a succubus is no easy feat. One has divine responsibilities she can't explain, and the other tempts him toward a decadent lifestyle he's not sure he can manage. Add to that the stresses of college and trying to hold down a job, and it's lucky Alex can even keep his head on straight.

Yet the complications keep on coming. An amorous (and terrifying) werewolf won't take no for an answer. Vampires from across the country want to know what happened to their allies in Seattle. To top it all off, events in the city have drawn the attention of federal agents who know far too much about the supernatural, and they have no patience for the chaos that Alex and his friends leave in their wake.

Great character development

I was really impressed with how in-depth the author went with the main character's history. It is probably the most interesting backstory spanning multiple lives I've ever heard.

If you’re reading regency romance novels really?

You’re listening to a paranormal novel with things and dimensions don’t matter. Why are you so sad about cheating? This is dumb. We read these type of books because they apply to our lives. So why get mad about cheating. Enjoy story. Enjoy the outcome. And root for your freaking fan!!!

The

Story is good and so is the voice acting. The writer needs to stop using several words, though: murmured, shrugged, and smirked. He also has some bad habits with dialogue that make it sound clunky and unrefined. An editor needs to make a couple more sweeps through.

Smoking

Great story just like the first book, yet like the first several hours of sexual content could be lost without loss to the story. I truly enjoyed the effective use of Buddhist spiritual healing of past lives. Expertly woven into the fabric of the story you will find age old wisdom. A very curious eclectic mix of faith and harmony gently massaged into your.....you get the picture.

Less sex more talking

As with the last book, there was a lot of sex but not nearly as much. There were more heartfelt discussions in the beginning but there was plenty of non sexual action too. I enjoy the characters and the story is well written. I would read another book by this author.

Good but antagonist narratives are way to long

Turns into tragic hero against super powerful antagonist who for the most part is supposed to be his 2 closest best friends that wants to take all the credit for Alex's selfless nature and at the same time make him look like a worthless cowardly idiot and take his happiness away by using his "conscious" to "push" him in the right direction but as you read you will see a change in "Alex's" speech and narrative which is when the quality of the protagonist drops sharply.

Another good installment

While not perfect, I did greatly enjoy it. There was less smut it felt, but in a good way, the story flowing smoother.

Irondale gives another excellent performance

Boundaries were broken, and although there was a sense of need for it, that did make me a touch sad. While I appreciate giving that push towards more equitable Polyamory instead of a typical harem, I was put off by how it got there. Also a lack of shower at least after said boundary was a squick for me.

But, it isn't the first book where something happens that I don't care for amongst otherwise great material. One can skip and move on, as I did. I look forward to experiencing more installments.

Still Sexy, Still a Solid Story

Alex and friends are still battling Evil (with a capital E) and now have an FBI "Special Unit" after them. Not only direct threats but now we see a threat of betrayal by one of their own. Things that were hinted at in the first book become solid plot elements. Alex and Lorelei's "flash backs" give the author a chance to flex his story telling muscles in other worlds. The angel politics are still entertaining. Even with all the people out to get our heroes, they still manage to get in sexy times. And Tess Irondale's voice acting was first rate and added a lot to the story.

Fun story and Good Balance

First, Tess Irondale nails it again. Fantastic narration.

The first book in this series was very entertaining but I think there were about 3 too many sex scenes. In Natural Consequences things are still plenty steamy, and we have a few key hookups here, but Kay seems to have dialed things back in favor of a more story.

This strange love story pushes forward and it's the core triad is really sweet in this novel. More exploration of the relationship between Rachel and Lorelei is quite welcome and I think the main love story this time is between them.

The overarching story here is cohesive and compelling. There's more of a sense that we're "going somewhere" then there was in the first book. And I'll tell you it's a hell of a ride. Really fun stuff and Rachel is particularly awesome this time around. There's some great moral ambiguity in the villains, we get to see hints of a changing world, and some revelations about exactly how his magic system works.

If you liked the first book I think this one is better and certainly worth your time.
