Your nervous system is you. All the thoughts, perceptions, moods, passions, and dreams that make you an active, sentient being are the work of this amazing network of cells. For many centuries, people knew this was true. But no one was sure how it happened. Now, thanks to the exciting new field of neuroscience, we can chart the workings of the brain and the rest of the nervous system in remarkable detail to explain how neurons, synapses, neurotransmitters, and other biological processes produce all the experiences of everyday life, in every stage of life.

From the spectacular growth of the brain in infancy to the act of learning a skill, falling in love, getting a joke, revising an opinion, or even forgetting a name, something very intriguing is going on behind the scenes.

Educational and relatable. Author goes into depth without losing the lay person. Enjoyable listen even though it gets a bit dry at times. Stick with it, it’s worth it.

Enjoyable

I found the topics of discussion were fantastic. The delivery was good. Remember, this is not an extremely detailed course on the cell biology of the nervous system, it's a more general overview of the field and fields of study of Neuroscience. Well worth the listen.

Great!

Broken down so you don't have to be an expert to understand. Fascinating overview of day to day functions and how our brains work.

Very interesting, latest research

I definitely enjoyed this audio book. Who work in the medical field so a lot of the information was relevant to my job. I'm not sure how much someone who works outside of medicine or science would like it. I do have a few complaints though the 1st being that it's clearly adapted from some kind of video or in person lecture as the narrator at times referred to things that we obviously can't see just listening to the audio. The other complaint I have against it is that at times I think the Narration could be more concise and not elaborate quite so much on case examples. But over all I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others

Love the narration flow and tone. Yet what I wasn't prepared for was being taking through photos I can't see.
