About this listen

The first title in a new hardcover trilogy from New York Times best-selling author Richard A. Knaak. This direct follow-up to the recent best-selling War of Souls trilogy deals with the minotaurs, a species with which the author is particularly associated in the minds of Dragonlance fans. This series will move the minotaur species to the forefront of the Dragonlance world, and since this is the first hardcover title that deals directly with the world-changing fallout at the end of the War of Souls, it is both a key title for Dragonlance fans and an excellent entry point for new listeners.

Good Book Bad Reading

Read this story when I was a kid and fell in love with Farros and the concept of Minotaurs being civil. This book actually got me into the dragon lance stories and I became a huge fan! Saw this on a list and chose to get back into it and listen to the series. The narrator did an okay job. I felt like most of his voices were monotone and similar. Other than that the story was just as good as I remembered it!

I really enjoy learning more about the politics & history of Krynn. This author brings his special brand of awesome while telling the first part of this tale. Can't wait for part 2!

Good narration. Slow story. Gratuitous brutality

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. The story has promise, but turned out to be boring and plodding. The author tries to make the world of the Minotaurs and Ogres compelling, but it wasn't compelling. The descriptions of battles often get into some gruesome details that I felt were gratuitous.

What was most disappointing about Richard A. Knaak’s story?

Plodding story line. It got boring.

Which scene was your favorite?

Nothing really stood out as a "favorite".

Do you think Night of Blood needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No.

Any additional comments?

I would like to get my money back on this series. It just wasn't very good.

I wanted to like this but the narration ruined it

Richard Knaak is one of my favorite dragonlance authors. I very much wanted to like this book. However I couldn't make it past the first chapter. There is no emotion in the narration. It feels like it is being read by a decent quality text to speech program. When you hear the same word twice in a short period of time, they sound exactly alike. The timing of tte speech feels off, like it is not flowing naturally. Maybe I'll have to pick up the physical book and read it when I get a chance, but I'm going to be returning the audio book.

More boring than I imagined

I found it hard to get in to until the very end. Hard names to remember, poorly told story, no real minotaur sounding characters, and never really feeling like I can relate to anyone at the same time. I will not be listening to the rest of this trilogy.

Mile wide and inch deep on Minotaur characters

Too many characters in too little time. Even in the last chapters, we are getting our first paragraphs dedicated to certain characters who shortly thereafter are killed. Unlike the author’s previous novels, which provided very rich development yielding personal reader connections to characters like Kaz, This volume was a dizzying bloodbath worthy of its title.

most boring

The most boring chapter of the Dragonlance series. I really struggled to finish it. If it weren't Dragonlance I wouldn't have.
